Would Andy Dufresne still be alive?

If he was real?
If so:
- Has he finished his boat by now?
- Has he found that record he played over the loud speaker and listened to it again?
- Does he have AIDS from Bogs, the sewer crawl, or Red?
Well I guess if he has AIDS he probably wouldn't be alive now. But Magic Johnson has AIDS, is still alive, and he's rich. Andy is rich too!

AIDS did not exist until 1982-3 in the US. Figure it was around in Africa about 1980. So no. Hepatitis would be a better bet. Both from the buttsex and the sewer crawl.

per wikipedia, the movie was set in 1947. So I'll guess that he definitely finished his boat, but is also dead by now. If he isn't dead, he's about 100 years old. He also probably moved to a non-extradition country long ago after we signed our treaty with Mexico in the 80's(?)
I kinda doubt he listened to that record again since he got put in solitary for a very long time for playing it the first time. Might not be the best memory to conjure up while relaxing on the Pacific beach

-no he died in the hurricane.
-he had HEP C, but died in the hurricane before he knew it.
