This has been going on for a while. They take all the good shows/movies off and replace it with straight up garbage. The newly added sections is basically nothing but shite Indy films and 2017-18 Adam Sandler (woof)

Why are they doing this?

The actual owners of the content want you to pay them to watch their shows and movies instead of Netflix.

The Marvel stuff alone is worth the cost.

This would be a good idea, but there aren’t a lot of good Netflix originals except for “Stranger Things” and maybe a handful of other shows.

I haven't noticed this, but then again, I don't normally watch movies on Netflix. I mean they do add pretty new Marvel/Disney content. Marvel movies get added on there in decent time, Coco/Moana, etc. I've also seen Forgetting Sarah Marshall and 40 Year Old Virgin added there in the last few months, both all-time comedies.

It’s the SJW’s faults.

Sort of. They bought it after the first two seasons.

Moving towards original content and other networks are building their own subscription based platforms that they want to drive people toward. But I like a lot of Netflix's original stuff but those new Adam Sandler movies are unwatchable.

It’s all contracts with distribution companies

The price of licensing this kind of content has been going up and many of the content owners have pulled/not renewed deals in hopes of starting their own service. Most of the Fox owned shows were pulled because Fox knew they were going to sell to someone like Disney/Comcast that would want streaming rights.

The movie selection on Netflix is the best it's been in years thanks to the Disney deal. But Disney opted out of that almost as soon as it started so next year is when you'll really start seeing Netflix Originals have to stand on their own.

Netflix didn't just take losing these deals lying down. They stole away Fox and Disney's most prolific show producers, Shonda Rhimes from ABC (Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, How to get away with Murder) and Ryan Murphy who had a bunch of shows on Fox and FX like Glee, American Horror Story and American Crime Story. So in theory their selection of originals should start getting better as they put more money into it.

They did something similar with Peaky Blinders as well.

Between their BBC acquisitions and original content, the subscription pays for itself.

It was never the platform for newer movies. And was more so known for access to TV shows. They’ve had to drop some content because of contract negotiations with distributors. But I haven’t noticed anymore of a drop off then they’ve had at other times in the past.

Some of these original content sites have good, original shows and movies.

Media is so spread out now, it seems almost impossible to capture an audience. Social media is the catalyst for that.

I never heard of Stranger Things til S2 came out. No idea how I never heard of it during S1(actually heard about S2 on here), but that was some good original content.

The Netflix Originals are the strongest content on the site.

Yup. We are done here.

Netflix is producing its own content left and right because the big media companies are starting up their own streaming services. They would have been perfectly happy to keep things the way they used to be.

The only reason I keep Netflix is because of kids. I rarely watch it anymore.

I hate that a lot of their mindless comedy stuff is gone. I used to just put random Family Guy, Archer, and Always Sunny episodes on while I'm doing things around the house. The Office and Parks & Rec work great too but if those went away it would suck

I'm starting to feel like the Netflix Originals are being watered down.

A couple years ago there were only a handful of originals and they were all great.

Now my recommendation list is filled with originals and they all feel cheaply made and not well structured.
