I don’t know about the other characters, but I thought it was pretty obvious what happened to Allie...
Her father hated Daniel, so he moved the entire family to NYC. There, while on vacation in Jamaica, Allie meets a mysteriously short, but flashy bartender. She falls head over heals in love with said bartender (like most girls in the 80s). She eventually gets knocked up by said bartender and discovers he is a player who can not say no to a challenge. She runs back to NYC and after bartender learns she is pregnant, he tries to win her back, over the objections of her father. She chooses the bartender over her parents and runs off the open a cheesy bar where she tells her now husband they are having twins.
