in Movies/TV. My vote is Halle Berry in Boomerang.

Margot Robbie as Tonya Harding

Salma Hayek when she played the lesbian painter with the unibrow.

She wasn't as done up as Robin Givens' character but she definitely wasn't ugly or supposed to be. She was supposed to be the cute safe girl, which was still a stretch. It completely came down to her short hairstyle.

You really can't hide a woman as fine as Halle Berry.

Agreed. All these “ugly” pics of Halle Berry she still looks fine in.
The answer has to be Charlize in Monster. She’s always been my favorite and is one of the most gorgeous women in history, and I still refuse to watch that movie because of how they made her look.

Agreed, that's why I put plain as well. Even with the short hair she was still beautiful but they made out like she was the woman he would "settle" for.

Halle Berry's bone structure in fer face is too good and her smile is too pretty that there's no way to disguise her attractiveness without prosthetics. Bad haircuts and ugly clothes won't cut it.

Naomi Grossman has the kind of facial structure where it seems she can make herself gorgeous or hideous at will.
Yes, as Pepper she was in make-up, but when she smiles her facial features form a shape that is odd looking, honestly. When her face is relaxed, she is gorgeous.

Do you mean made up as "ugly", or portrayed as ugly although she looks normal?
Jimmy Cagney made a movie where he was after Rita Hayworth but had to "settle" for her plain friend, Olivia de Havilland:

Wasn't Olivia de Havilland also considered the "plain" one to Vivien Leigh in Gone With the Wind?

Charlize Theron in Monster. There is no close 2nd place. And Halle Berry is fine in Boomerang. What tf you talking about?
“Love should have brought your arse home last night.”

The latter is what I thought was the subject. There are many movies where some hot actress puts her hair in a bun, wears glasses, and is supposed to be ugly.
There were many jokes on 30 Rock about Liz Lemon being ugly when Tina Fey was obviously hot as hell compared to the average woman.

I meant more of portrayed as ugly although she looks normal but either is fine really.

Damn it's hard to beat Charlize.

First movie that came to mind was "Monster" with Charlize Theron taking the lead role.
I know it had a good bit to do with makeup, prosthetic teeth and a bit of weight gain, but DAMN, what a transformation.
