Who was the 1st actor to portray James Bond in film?

This has been asked and answered before, but I don't remember an offering of the film.

Well, I think the judges are going to have to review this question, as I don’t think TV programs of the 1950s were shot on film.

timing seems about right, bond was created after WW2 so given that and time to pitch and make a movie, mid 50s sounds about when it should have first been done

TV tape was not invented until the late 1950s. Previously, many programs were live and the action on the monitor was filmed with a technique called kinesope.

It was a live television adaptation of the book that ran for only 50 minutes.

This reminds me of a radio call-in trivia question way back in the late 90s where the guy asked "Who was the first person to play Batman in the movies?"
The one who won called in and say, "Michael Keaton"
Which had me yelling at my radio because the first one to play him in a full-length movie (as opposed to serials) was Adam West.

So it's actually Lewis Wilson.

Yes, but not "full length motion pictures" - they tend to add the "full length" caveat so people don't have to account for hundreds of serials.
