Just saw this on netflix with my girlfriend and it was really good. The movie really makes living in Chicago look appealing. Definitely want to visit now. I didn't think I would look the movie but it was one of my favorites. Anybody else seen it? Didn't see any discussion on it through a search.

That's an interesting take.

Doesn't she live in a crappy appt building with a creepy neighbor hitting on her? The house of the family seems to be a large house built in the 1950's. That take is like watching Rudy and wanting a large family.

i think all rom-coms make whatever city the movie takes place in appealing.

usually rom-coms feature a good mix of the single lifestyle and family gatherings, so the setting is comforting.

It is not so much the houses/apartments they live in.

The train, the sense of community, I don't know, something about it made me want to live in a really big city. I know I wouldn't like the reality of it though.

Wait...is this the movie where Sandra Bullock takes advantage of a guy in a coma to convince his family that they're in love? Then when he wakes up - from a coma - he has to rationalize what the hell is going on and then falls for her?

If that's not a #MeToo moment, I don't know what is.

Rewatched this a couple nights ago.

Is it cliche? Formulaic? Silly?

Yes.

I still laughed every couple minutes. I still smiled while waiting for damn near every line from Peter Boyle. I still teared up when Sandy Bullock came clean to the family.

This is one of my mom's favorite movies and IMO the definitive Christmas Rom-Com.
