The movie had an interesting premise and execution. The show was a bit more up and down but it had some very good stuff in it.

I'm on the other end- the movie was ok, interesting but nothing special.

But the show, Stargate SG-1, I thought was great for a long stretch.

Concept was archaeologists find a strange device buried in the sand in Eqypt, and when they research it, major surprises are made. Title is the spoiler... but it's an early spoiler.

Movie turns into action, while the show has a lot of Star Trek TOS elements.

Stargate- American action sci fi.

Hitchhiker Guide- British intellectual comedy sci fi.

I vote Stargate.

Stargaze is one of the best sci-fi movies. The show is good too.

The show was great. Amanda Tapping in her prime was hot as well.

It's kind of ridiculous. I enjoy it, but I wouldn't say that it's good scifi. You have to turn your brain off a little and enjoy it for what it is.

The show, SG1, is a great science fiction series and really a classic of the format. Atlantis was well received too, but I never got into it. Maybe I'll give it a go eventually. Stargate Universe apparently had rape stones, but I never got that far into it.

The series is great.

If you haven't watched it or are on the fence, it helps to remember- the show was on Showtime for the first 4-5 seasons, and moved to Syfy afterwards. So it wasn't on a shoestring budget.

I prefer the TV show cast over the movie's.

I watch the first part of Stargate every time it comes on. There's a point where I stop watching it,but I don't want to spoil it.

It's a good movie, not great but enjoyable. It was recently added to Amazon Prime Movies and I just watched it again for like the 20th time.

I feel the same. Have tried to get into the series multiple times but for whatever reason I can't.

It was a decent movie. In its time it was a really good movie. It has to be at least 20 years old.

-just looked it up. 24 years old. Lol.

I’d watch the movie so you can watch the show. The show was really enjoyable for me. Very similar to Star trek

The movie is solid (had to double-take when I realized the scientist was James Spader). The series started out extremely well (originally was on Showtime but moved to SciFi... now SyFy) but kind of put themselves into a corner by season 5 or so.

If you ever watched X-Files you'll see a similar trajectory. Once they wrap up the over-arching storyline they don't seem to know what to do next.
