It’s a desperate attempt to ignore history and appease the liberal masses and be woke, right?

Or is it labeled as fantasy?

With the success of Downton Abbey I’m sure they were pissed about history being so white and they said “why does it have to be all white?”

Then had to make their own diverse show.

You think it's supposed to be a documentary or something?

It's a show for women to get their panties wet.

I’m asking. Is it a period piece that’s accurate? Doesn’t seem like it.

Bridgerton is soft core period porn, mostly for white women who want to lust after a safe, not quite black dude. Downton Abbey and Outlander are similar semi-historical housewife fantasy shows. Shonda Rhimes is the queen of making shows for Becky and Keisha to squirm about.

I watched the first season with my wife, it wasn't torture. She didn't ask me to watch the second season with her...

Imagining its 10 PM at the OPs house, just piss raving mad about a show made for teenagers and he’s got to get it out now and let the world know to set this thing right.

I could be wrong, but I believe it’s an old, old wooden ship that was used during the civil war era

Most period pieces in entertainment aren’t. The Tudors, all of the Starz properties on the War of the Roses/Tudors, Netflix’s recent adaptation of Jane Austen’s Persuasion, etc.

It’s absolutely the TV version of a Harlequin novel. Get off our lawn.

To me, only the Queen was truly cast that way as there is supposedly some evidence that she had some black blood in her. I don't know it that's true and don't care.

But the rest of the cast...it's not woke. It's not exactly fantasy, but almost. They basically just ignored race when casting and in the story. It's not addressed at all, which is actually refreshing. It's not a story about interracial relationships or anything like that. They just cast whomever they wanted. It's very easy for me to not pay any attention to it at all, since they are all pretty gorgeous people.

This. I didn’t hate it but I like period dramas. I don’t mind the diversity on it because it’s just people of different ethnicities interacting and they don’t pat themselves on the back or act like there’s a bunch of racism (when there was actually hella racism going on.). They just put Asian, black, and Indian people in certain roles that they would be today. It’s not “OMG, there’s a black Duke!!!” It’s just a Duke who’s black.

The only eye roller is an actual historical queen being black, but again, they don’t address race at all.

The lead chick in S2 was some spicy curry. Would wife.

I gotta +1 this. I watched most of season 2 with Mrs TTown. The Bridgerton family are all mostly likeable and the main story of season 2 focusing on the brother was decent. There are, however, secondary characters & storylines going on that are cringy. But overall, it isnt the worst thing she has put on the TV.

This. It helps the lead actress in S2 was nice to look at.

Edit: Rules Dammit!
