It's a pretty love or hate ending for most people. Personally I hated the ending, simply due to it requiring the characters to act like complete idiots to force the conclusion.

These characters had fought their butts off the entire movie, and shown themselves to be very bright and resourceful the entire movie. These same bright characters then drive down the interstate ignoring exit after exit that would have had gas stations and then proceed to run out of gas. It was just dumb and a complete 180 from the personalities that had been established for the rest of the movie.

There are few, if any, "good" movies that have horrible endings. In order for a movie to be considered good, at least in my opinion, it needs to stick the landing. If it fails to do that, how can it be a good movie?

There's lots of good examples in this thread.

Many movies are ruined by bad endings but not all.

Can y’all explain the law abiding citizen hate. I watched it casually and enjoyed it for what it was. A popcorn movie. Y’all are probably right about it, but I’d appreciate if someone would explain why

The third act is seemingly writing and directed by completely different people

The entire tone and the roles of the characters completely shift without a moments notice

1 second it’s about a broken system and a man fighting for justice becoming an anti hero and then the next all of a sudden it turns into a Jamie Fox saves the day for America and rids the world of an evil man

It’s so weird. Seems obvious the studios came in and demanded a more safe ending

I thought that the second to last scene in Hot Fuzz was completely unnecessary and detracted from an otherwise great movie. That sea mine would’ve turned everyone in that building to molecules.

Exit after exit in a mist that's hiding monsters that will absolutely frick you up and some that will literally frick you up.

That's literally anywhere they could have gone period in the movie, and they had already decided to fight their way through that when they decided to leave the grocery store and fight their way to the vehicle. Doesn't fly that these people would just turn around give up just a bit later. It was extremely poor writing regardless of how you want to look at it, simply forcing a square peg into a round hole for shock value.

I agree with a lot on here ... Interstellar, Law Abiding Citizen, AI

One movie ending I can't stand is Prince of Persia:Sands of Time.

I've never played the video game, and I don't care for Jake Gyllenhaal .. but I like actiony, historical fiction movies.
It's not that great of a movie to begin with, but the whole plot was wasted for the ending. Just blah.

And of course, Harry Potter #7 Part 2 ... the ending totally sucks ... and it goes way off from the book. Hate that.

A.I. Spielberg had to “Spielberg” it.
Should have ended with Haley Joel at the bottom of the ocean for eternity. I imagine that’s more what Kubrick had in mind.

Spielberg has said himself that people constantly accuse him of this, but that Kubrick's vision for the movie was always a retelling of Pinocchio and the only things he (Spielberg) added or changed was the Flesh Fair.

If Martin Scorsese can make Hugo, I'm not sure why it's so hard for people to believe Kubrick could make A.I.

On sheer principle, Argo.

Oscar win over a couple worthy contenders.

Ending was made up. No tense interrogation, and hell not tarmac Jeep v plane superfinish.

It wouldn’t grind my gears, but the ensuing credit roll gave itself an Art Direction Reacharound.

Yeah, before the finale it and it’s predecessor were a 9/10 adaptation... and that ending just puts it down to a 4/10. Just awful. Reeks of some idiot executive producer interfering saying “Yeah Harry and Voldemort slowing circling each other building up the tension is fricking boring.... let’s have Harry throw Voldemort off the roof and then they fly around the castle!”

The Departed. I generally love Scorcese, and it was a well-executed movie, but the climax in the elevator infuriates me to this day.

Another is Fallen, starring Denzel Washington. The ending virtually negates the entire film.

Indeterminate endings also irk me, as they often strike me as artistic cowardice. Although it is otherwise a masterpiece, Inception has an ambiguous ending. As does Prisoners. And numerous post-modern horror movies incorporate fatalistic, cryptic endings that imply the underlying evil has not been vanquished.

While the film takes great great liberties... it’s actually about the same ending as the game.

After defeating the Jafar like dude he goes back to the night before he invaded her city and tells her about how they fell in love and avoids the entire debacle of the game.

Game is really fun and unique but the mechanics get a bit old and repetitive. Second and third games are much more dynamic and action style.

I like the movie, mostly but it reminded me too much of John Carter (which I really enjoy.)

Yes this is stupid and the fact that he just breaks the elder wand and tosses it over the bridge is asinine - that makes me cringe bc the end of the battle in the book is just so much better and I’m not sure why they would change that

Except to think ‘this Ending sucks I gotta see if this is how it ends in the book’
