Plenty of people are mad about Dany going mad, Bran being King, Cersei's death, Jamie going back to Cersei, Jon going beyond the wall, etc
And no amount of fleshing out would have made them happy either.
With a show with as much hype and wild fan theories as GoT it was inevitable that some people were going to hate the ending. It was going to be an impossible standard to live up to.
With that said, the reason the hate is so widespread is because the writing was awful for the past 2 seasons. I personally have no problem with big outcomes, but there is no defending the fact that the writing was full of plot holes and inconsistent development for the last 2 seasons.

Must be nice to have zero brain power and the ability to enjoy shiny metal objects for entertainment.
The rest of us like rational logical outcomes within the context of the world built up over 8 years.
I don't care who came out of top if it fits within the character arcs built up within the previous 7 seasons.
Only morons actually enjoy Bran as king. Only morons think it makes any sense for the kingdom to hold together once the north declares independence.
Only brain dead denizens of the Night King would believe Grey Worm wanted a trial for Jon and Tyrion. He would have killed them 1 second after Jon confessed if not 1 second after seeing the blood spot.
But keep enjoying shiny things. Sure cuts down on the entertainment budget.

Right. Which was the point.
My wife hated Dany going mad. It wouldn't have mattered if they had let us see her slowly drift towards for 2 more seasons.

Nobody is arguing otherwise in this thread.

Nah, we just arrived at Wally World being closed down and were still determined to see it through.

I am ok (for the most part) with the overarching plot but it needed 10 episodes if not 2 seasons.

The biggest problem I have is that The Tower of Joy (R+L=J) really meant nothing. It was right in the middle of the first book. People wanted to know what it meant for over 20 years. It’s a defining plot line that’s revisited by the show in season 6 .....
And it didn’t really mean a damn thing. He could have been a stark or a tully or a Baratheon or a Greyjoy. Really didn’t matter did it?
He should have claimed drogon and then left on his own to live north of the wall.
And Bran on the throne seems dumb. He’s the 3ER. He’s gonna live for a thousand years right?

Every major (not minor) suggestion I have seen from the complainers results in marked changes from character arcs or behavior so they can get a storybook ending to a show that has been solidly grounded in medieval style political intrigue
Same. It's like a lot of people can no longer consider where the story has taken us at this point and just want to see what they want no matter how drastic the would alter the progression of the characters. They almost want a different story and that's just not how it works. Lots of genuine complaints to be talked about but the ending really isn't one of them.
And people talking about fan service? Get fricked.

How about a not rushed conclusion to a massive story?
How about not having the two biggest events in the series occurring over 1 episode each?
How about having actual character development and growth of main characters who end up in positions that, only episodes before, they refused because “they no longer feel”?
Season 8 was a rushed mess.
All of the endings would work if there was build up to them, but there wasn’t.
D&D simply wanted out so they sped through.

Even though it's a fantasy show, there were rules established within the fantasy universe of the show. These rules and logic were thrown out of the window for the sake of plot/ omg moments.
I don't mind what happened, I mind how it happened.

No one can defend the final two scenes. They were hot fricking garbage.

Tyrion does an exposition of her long list of murders of either defenseless or surrendered persons throughout the show. This is just the first time they showed it from the perspective of the people she was 'clensing'.
And yet not one innocent woman or child was included in that exposition. She never once harmed the innocent, only those who wronged her or wronged the innocent. And let's not forget that she isn't the only one who has a body count attached to her name. Jon Snow has killed men who have wronged him, too. He even killed a child (Ollie), something that Dany never did until the final season.

I'd have been fine with that

I emotionally checked out when Arya killed the Night King. After that, I was simply on auto-pilot wanting them to just get it over with. I actually liked the fourth episode but then completely loathed the fifth and sixth episodes. Episode three is where the show jumped the shark and episode five is where the show narratively died.

It also a contributing factor towards Dany going mad.
No R+L=J means Jon and Dany get married and she no longer suffers rejection right before the sacking of KL.
“Then its fear” turns into a great big white wedding with everyone cheering and a unified Westeros.

It doesn't matter. People were brigade downrating episodes before they even aired. It didn't matter what was released because the internet had already decided it was going to hate it.
