What are the worst Christmas movies/specials you’ve seen?

Not counting “intentionally bad” made for TV stuff like Hallmark and others (those are a guilty pleasure)

There was a stop frame animation Christmas show like Rudolph about a donkey with really long ears. He’s teased and has a pretty tragic childhood but ends up carrying Mary in to Bethlehem and gets to witness the birth of Christ.
There’s a scene where his mother dies and it crushed my 8 year old heart. It was up there with Bambi’s mother getting shot and Dumbo’s mother in chains.
I don’t consider myself a softy but frick those shows. I have a weakness for seeing animals hurt I guess. Even if it’s fictional cartoon or doll ones.
Anyway, the donkey’s name was Nester, I think the show was called Nester the Christmas Donkey or something.
Screw that show.

I absolutely hated “The Little Drummer Boy” that was stop-motion, like “Rudolph” and “Santa Claus is Comin to Town”.
I remember the donkey one too.

That was one of my favorite Christmas shows growing up. Yes, the beginning is sad, but it has a powerful message behind it. I still remember what the little angel told Nestor:
"Your ears can do a wondrous thing no other ears can do. The sounds they hear will guide you on a path that's straight and true. And you will save another as your mother once saved you."
Disney told a similar story with "The Small One." Also a very moving Christmas story.

In '77, Marlo Thomas did a made-for-TV remake of It's a Wonderful Life. This was before It's a Wonderful Life was a rediscovered phenomena, so a lot of people thought this was an original story.

Now that is just false. I'd put it in the underrated Christmas movie category. I still use Arnold's rhythm when I name all of Santa's reindeer.
