"Honestly, these are not movie movies I watch anymore," he told Inverse.com. "When they came up with the technology and the fact that suddenly Iron Man or Spider-Man could look real and not tacky in the special effects, I was interested. Then, it became normal."

He continued: "I was a big fan of the comics at the time when I was a kid. Nowadays, I think these are movies for kids, really. And even though I still have a part of me who's a kid, I would say no. I wouldn't watch it."

quote:

"Maybe if you had a great villain and it's done with by somebody who's really intelligent and talented enough to give it a twist so it doesn't look like a movie for kids, then maybe I would do it.

"But otherwise, no. The few approaches that I had, I felt like it would have been a long time commitment for something that I wouldn't even watch to the end."

I mean they mostly are

Doesn’t mean adults can’t or shouldn’t enjoy them as well.

I mean, there's nothing wrong with enjoying both The Godfather and Endgame for different reasons.

But let's not pretend that Ocean's 12 isn't just bubble gum for anyone over the age of 13 (since you know, it is PG-13). Super enjoyable film that I quite like, but it isn't some world changing, introspective film. It's closer to a family film than to an innovative drama.

Do people actually care about celebrity opinions? First this board melted when Scorsese said this, now this dude I've never heard of?

So, basically a film snob.

I honestly don't care how deep or mature the storyline is, I watch for entertainment value.

I love these actors who think they are so edgy for shitting on something a huge mass of people enjoy. His next comment, "Star Wars is for nerds."

I feel like there is a clear correlation between the rise of nerd culture and the fall of masculinity in America.

He gave an answer to a question. "Would you play a villain in a superhero movie?" If the magazine had asked him their question and he'd just flatly said no, people would be complaining that he's an a-hole for being so curt. So he decided to articulate an actual response. He's not edgy for being asked a question.

He's eddgy for the shite he did in Irreversible. People who were in Irreversible are allowed to not want to be in comic movies.

He gave a pretty detailed and thoughtful answer to a question. And I don't really disagree with him. I mean I've been entertained by some of the movies. Some were so-so and really only interesting for special effects. But, like he said, I was into comics as a kid, and it would have been a totally different level of excitement for me if these movies could have been made when I still that age.

He also explained that he thought taking a part in them would require a long-term commitment, which is a pretty reasonable consideration.
