I really need to read the comic books and reference all the insider information I keep seeing mentioned.

I did not like this last episode for a lot of reasons .... but I get most of it I guess and I'll keep watching to see where they go with this thing.

No wonder Alan Moore didnt want anything to do with this.

Well, he doesn't want anything to do with anything. It's not like he read the script and decided to stay away

Moore is curmudgeon about all of this due to how DC kinda fricked him and Gibbons over with the book never going out of print.

I think he still gets money but he passes it along some to various comic charities or something it's been awhile.

He's also been kind of a dick to Dave at some point because he wasn't thanked enough over some money turnover thing.

DC gave Gibbons a shite-ton of money to oversee the Watchmen prequel comics (in the quarter of a million range) and asked him to ask Moore to give his blessing for a "large payment".

Moore was disgusted with Gibbons and said that was the end of their friendship.

I think Moore had signed over his cut of the Watchmen royalties to Gibbons. Not sure on that point.

As a fan of the graphic novel, nothing has been out of line from the source material so far. In fact, you can tell Lindeolf is a fan of Watchmen and really understands it. Even the things Lindeolf connects on his own that weren't fully explained in the comic, I have no issue with. The show feels like a love letter from someone that really appreciates the original. I would've bailed on the first episode without prior knowledge. I'm honestly surprised there are enough people following along without at least watching the movie.

Naw this was way previous.

It was after he went to bat for creators rights, like mid 90s I wanna say. But a more recent interview somewhere in the 00s

This is funny if you watched the show. Even funnier if you didn't.

Yea he's definitely a fan. I read some article where they were talking to him about how he felt about Moore not wanting to be a part of it. He was very respectful even though it seemed like Moore really wasnt happy about the series.

I dont get that feeling at all though. The show is done really well but I get the "whatever you can do i can do better" feel to it. He obviously drops in some nice little tidbits that only the novel reader would get, but it's his own spin that is pretty wild, which is to be expected with him. There are very few things that are in the show that make me think "o this is how it ended up." Not that that matters, but it just doesnt feel like a love letter.

Lindelof has a co-writer for every episode. He's stepping back from writing a couple of the final episodes. I don't know if he has a writer's room or if he really is swapping off writers every week, but I think one or two of them want to really amp-up the "supers are bad" stuff. I know the writer for yesterday's episode has no love for Batman, which is why he was so hard on Captain Metropolis. Veidt happily harvesting fetuses from a lake was pretty harsh, even for his character.

I was kind of bored with some of the story-line in the last episode, but the cinematography, editing, and production in general was really sweet. I enjoyed it for the most part.

Rewatching the first episodes and noticing a few interesting things..

When Judd leaves his house and ends up getting hanged he states he was leaving to go visit the cop in the hospital who was shot in the opening scene of the series. This is never touched on again. Is it safe to assume he was actually doing something mischievous. Such as going to a K7 meeting?

Secondly. In the second episode Sister Knight is having a flashback of the “white night” when all the cops are killed. Her house is raided by 2 K7 members. She kills one and one shoots her and then she passes out as he’s about to kill her. Why did he let her leave? And where did her husband go? Just ran away like a little bitch and never confronted the second attacker?

I think we will get answers to this next episode, as it looks like we get some of Angela’s memories based on the previews.

My guess is that Judd was the one who saved them that night but were gonna find out he had a hand in the white night happening

Fwiw the second Watchmen Podcast with the show creators dropped and they talk a lot about what’s happening, the thought process behind the plot, and what’s ahead (without spoilers obviously).

I think it’s definitely gonna turn out he was apart of the white night because it’s all but confirmed he was a part of the K7.

I don’t know why he would be the one to save her though. Unless he wanted to use her for something down the road. When they are sitting in the hospital together talking you can tell they aren’t really friends or anything yet by how they interact.
