Main character was not the kind of bad guy you root for. It was like you're supposed to want to see Affleck's character end up okay because he's supposedly good at heart, but really he and just about everybody else in the movie is a trash scum bag.

I think it was disappointing because it was trying to hard to be Heat and the final “score” was a tad far fetched

Spot on. I really enjoyed the first 80% of the movie, but after the Fenway debacle, the ending just seemed too convenient and clean cut compared to the rest of the film. Not sure if Afflecks outcome would have landed better if different, but the ending really felt off

Very good movie.

ETA- Blake Lively was super hot as that white trash bitch.

The "whose car we gonna take?" scene is GOAT.

Nothing wrong with that. There should be 100 movies that try to be Heat

The Town was awesome.

Indeed.

How do you know Dougie?

Fun movie. I enjoyed it and watch it at least once a year.

I really like The Town, it's one of those movies that you can get into anytime it is on. I do agree that the ending keeps it from being a GREAT movie.

I also didn't like it the first time I saw it. Caught it years later on HBO and really enjoyed it. I have since bought the directors cut version with the different ending. It's not Heat but nothing is Heat.

When I first saw it I felt like the Jon Hamm character was wrong. Like it would've been better if he was the guy from there and was more invested but just a cop.

She did some method acting too by doing drugs and sleeping with Ben Affleck during production

I'm in that boat with you. It's been a long time since I watched it. When I see it's on one of my movie channels, I don't watch it. The reason I don't watch it, is because I remember being a movie that had a really good build up going, but didn't pay off. Maybe I'm wrong and need to watch it again?

Jon Hamm is the real star of this one.
