Watched new Aladdin finally, Will Smith main redeeming quality

And holy shite does Will Smith carry the hell outta that movie. Was concerned about him going in but he did a fantastic job of not trying to be Robin Williams and making that role his own. He really did a great job.
Everything else was meh to trash. The movie should be renamed Jasmine anyway since it’s her story and the whole girl power thing was shoved down your throat.
6/10 movie tho. Just wanted to highlight how good Will Smith was.

I thought all the actors out of Jafar were fine. I thought production values were pretty good. I thought it explored some different avenues than the animated version. I enjoyed it well enough.

I actually somewhat enjoyed the movie. Will Smith did a pretty good job as well. The hate towards him was overblown for sure.

The fact that you said Will Smith carried the movie is a bad thing. The movie is called “Aladdin” not “Genie.” My biggest concern going in was that WS would take over the movie with his mugging. He was obnoxious in parts, but overall he didn’t ruin the movie for me. The two leads carried the movie. They both sang well and looked the part. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

Robin Williams was the star of the show in the original. Genie is the only really unique part of the story

No one was going to be as good as Robin Williams. Maybe if Jim Carrey from 97 was teleported here.

Aladdin was never the most interesting part of the movie despite the name. Jasmine and Genie made the movie.
