V was pretty good. Never saw it until now. I’ve seen you guys post about it on Nov. 5th a lot but never looked into watching it until now. I didn’t realize that the Guy Fawkes story was true or even existed until I saw this movie. Good stuff.

American History X was a bit intense I thought. With all the racial slurs, fighting and curb stomps, I couldn’t understand how a movie like this would’ve been made in Hollywood. I do have a question about this one though. How come the black kid at the end shot the little brother? I know they had a little altercation at the beginning of the movie, but he was barely in it after that.

The kid was in it, just offscreen.

It was a bit of a bait and switch as the scenes implied that it was the friends of the gang banger Derek killed to end up behind bars, not the kid Danny stood up to in the bathroom and his older brother, who was in a gang himself.

Maybe I’m retarded but can you explain that a little more clearer? I kept getting the feeling that Derek was the one that was going to get killed once he got out of prison.

That was the point.

Everything was made to seem like Derek was the target but Danny was actually the target for reasons unrelated to Derek.

If you watch it again, IIRC, I think the shooter ended up seeing Danny when he passed the basketball courts on the way home, then another scene is of the shooter and their brother outside the apartment building, etc.

The point is to make you think it was going one direction when it was really going a different way.

he got shot over nothing like so many kids do. "he dont wanna see me in the heater", as the young thug says to him in the bathroom. it was a senseless killing all over a 10 second standoff as to who was the bigger man. nothing more, nothing less.

American History X

Sure isn't a feel good movie date night, that's for sure.

It is one of those "If I'm flipping channels and come across it, I'll leave it" movies, though. Except that whole prison bathroom scene. I ain't watching that.

Wasn't a more of an initation thing? Because the dude who killed Danny was with the crew that were at the basketball game and the same dudes that Derek killed. Derek caught them scoping out Danny which is why he went back to the school and knew immediately what happened

Love American History X. It’s in my top 10 favorite movies and Norton delivers one of my all time favorite acting performances. Coming off of movies like Primal Fear and Rounders, his transformation for that role was amazing.

It was made before all the SJW and virtue signaling engulfed Hollywood. Back when they made comedies that were funny and didn’t pander to the politically correct, easily offended crowd.

Hollywood did some good stuff before the PC culture wrecked it.

My interpretation was that the cycle of racial hate would never end. If when Danny recognizes the futility of it and changes his ways, a new generation of racists perpetuates the deadly cycle.

that was pretty funny. who would've thought i would've seen 2 cast members from Boy Meets World in this movie.

especially the dad playing a racist.
