The untitled WB event film on July 17, 2020 is now Christopher Nolan’s next event film. The untitled pic will also be released in Imax.
No details are available about the movie, which is standard for the Dunkirk director.
The third weekend in July is a lucky date for Nolan: It’s not only where he’s launched two $1 billion-grossing Batman titles, Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises, and Inception, which went on to over $828M WW, but it’s a time when the five-time Oscar nominee opened Dunkirk, which defied domestic box office perceptions as a British war film, beat tracking and debuted to $50.5M, and finaled at $189.7M domestic, $527M WW. That movie also scored eight Oscar noms, and three wins.
Nolan received Oscar noms for Dunkirk (best picture, director), Inception (picture, original screenplay), and Memento (original screenplay).

You know when you're a big deal when the only thing they release about your upcoming film is your name as director.

I read that in Michael Caine's voice while envisioning a montage of Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Marion Cotillard, Cillian Murphy, and Anne Hathaway packing their suitcases.

Nolan is a lot like Kubrick in that he's done great work across multiple genres.
Would he do some kind of high end horror/Thriller akin to The Shining next?? Or will he go back to a Sci-fi or crime film type.
I don't carez I'll see it.
I do think he would be very good at some kind of Europe a mideivel or Colonial type of film. I think his modern, yet classic film look, combined with a great Zimmer score and grata sound mixing would be very unique set against a Last of the Mohicans, Barry Lyndon, Braveheart-esque setting.
I thought his style worked to great effect in Dunkirk.
I just hope Hardy will be in it.
