And, of course, that refusal to change one's mind works both ways - to people that don't like someting as well as to people that do.

You said a mouthful there Jake.

It a type of non-contradiction that we all enforce. So yeah there has been plenty of self-deception going on in here. SFP, you are the high priest!
i said long ago that the show wasn't what i had hoped it to be. i hoped i was wrong, but it unfolded as i figured

long before there were any worries that the investigation would be thrown away, i was talking about how i didn't like Rust
i don't know what you expect me to do when i don't like a character, and the show basically becomes about him primarily

Well, we're counting on you to get this thread up over 100 pages.

SFP you have the "it" factor when it comes to True Detective. Never has a man said so much, understood so little, and been heard by so many!

He was definitely a big fan of the show, whether he realizes it or not.

I'm surprised you haven't been slapped by your father, a judge, or a decent human being in the face yet; changing your condition.
The merging of the inflated self-concept and the actual self is so strong.

i have about 100 times already
people like rust don't get hired, let alone promoted, in bureaucratic institutions like a police force
1. he's too smart
2. he doesn't think like a worker bee
3. he doesn't follow orders
rust is a character written to say cool shite. i could take it as long as it was a means to move the plot forward, but when he becomes basically the main focus of the show, it's an issue.

You're doing the exact same thing. You were the one with the negative view towards the show and have been biased ever since. You make your opinion on the show as if it's fact, and that if anyone says they actually liked the entire show that they must be lying to themselves.
If you don't think this was a good tv show, you're lying to yourself more than anyone in this thread
