Yep, Kim's bad side was coming out well before S05. I've gone back to S02 when they first started scamming people together & I think the switch happened then - also when she left HHM iirc. I haven't looked into it yet, but I'd be willing to bet she was not wearing the earrings to start S02 but she might've started wearing them at some point around then.
Just finished a complete rewatch. She liked to dabble in the scams, but she definitely wasn't breaking bad like she has been the last half season or so.
The flashbacks to kid Kim with her mom feel like bad retcons to me.

you can write it off as "she liked to dabble in them" if you want, but that's where it started for her.

I think what cokes was saying is that she has ALWAYS dipped a toe in the water on the scam stuff but didn't go full chips in like she is currently doing until only very recently.
I think it was even in last season season 5, when her and jimmy are just chit chatting about fun scams to pull and jimmy is talking about doing all kinds of crazy stuff to howard and she even stops him and is like "wait, we're jsut joking right? Just playing around?". Even as recently as last season she is the one putting the brakes on things going too far and now she's driving the bus on it full steam ahead

actually it was Jimmy who was the reluctant one in that scene & was like "we're just joking, right? playing around?". I agree that it's been a constant build up of Kim "going bad" for awhile now & I think it's already been said in this thread that her u-turn from the foundation meeting was her last chance at redemption. She's all in now.
I only brought up S02 to try & track if she has always worn the stolen earrings or if something started her wearing them again.

I noticed the shirt and thought teacher’s pet from the apples. IE, she’s a good kid who acted out by shoplifting.

He wasn't gonna let Lalo ask him a question.
I thought that scene could have been handled better. Even after the guy ran, Lalo still could have negotiated. By all rights, Lalo should have died in that shop and be buried in those woods.
Whether that’s a criticism of Vince or whoever, I think it’s legitimate.

Leaning towards this during the break but planning to fast forward through all/most of the Chuck stuff.

Why? The Chuck stuff was so overly interesting for me, especially during rewatch. It has such a great buildup and payoff with the courtroom scene with the cell phone battery.

Agreed, and I said as much in my initial post in this thread too. If that dude was fearing for his life (which he was, and he saw that Lalo was chasing him with a gun drawn), no way would he have just hit Lalo with the back side of the axe. I thought Lalo was maybe wearing a bulletproof vest that protected him, but I think the dude just hit him with the spine instead of the blade.
But just the way that entire sequence went down was weird. For all you know, the dude retreated into that house/barn and grabbed a gun and is waiting for you to open the door. But Lalo just opens it and waltzes right on in. It was just stupid and careless, and despite Lalo's insanity, he isn't really stupid or particularly careless.

I think VG is now trying to show is that it "started" when she was a kid.
And "dabbling" is definitely what you'd call it. Jimmy showed her some of the scams, and she laughed them off. But then she had so much fun she wanted to go back and do it again several times. And you could tell she enjoyed it but was also scared of it.

I’m just not sure the juice is worth the squeeze for me. I recall it taking a longggg time to get there.

I found Lennie more interesting in Used Cars than in BCS.

One of the truly weakest scenes from both series.

Yeah I found that a little weird for Lalo. He knows that guy has an ax and it’s a tight enclosed space. Yet he seems so casual about it as if he was just snooping around looking for more clues. Honestly not feeling Lalo’s story right now.

Same here...
So what do yall think they will disclose on the next episode since its the finale of the first half?
1. The plan to ruin Howard? Or do they carry that over to Part 2?
2. Does Lalo find out what he needs? Does he make a move? Or does that storyline get carried over as well?
3. Do we get a clearer understanding of Kim's change? Or does that get carried over?

He didn't so much as take a quick look by the door for a light switch.

I think the plan goes off next week but the total aftermath gets held over until after the break.

Same deal. He finds what he needs but acting on it waits until after the break.

I'm not sure a whole lot more needs to be explained.
She seems to want financial independence at all costs to do her thing and not have to rely on the elites, who she resents, for their help.
I do wonder what she has in mind that needs her physical presence in Albuquerque, as opposed to just giving Saul instructions and continuing on to Santa Fe.

starting to think the series will end with gene taking up the lawyer suit of saul to defend himself and leave his fate up to imagination.

Lalo storylines carries over. The entirety of the Lalo and the Gus story as well ends with the construction of the lab, and after Lalo's death there are no longer any impediments. If they end Lalo in the next episode, there's no real reason to keep Gus around anymore.
My guess is the second half will be the fallout from whatever happens with Howard, along with the end of the Lalo/Gus story
