The article has spoilers from tonight's eps if you haven't watched it but this post doesn't spoil it.

Well he doesn't pull many punches.

On showrunner Alec Berg:

quote:

I didn’t talk to Alec because I don’t like Alec, but I think Mike Judge and Clay Tarver are brilliant

quote:

I don’t know how smart [Alec] is. He went to Harvard, and we all know those kids are f—ing idiots. That Crimson trash. Those comedy writers in Hollywood are f—ing Harvard graduates and that’s why they’re smug as a bug.

On Thomas Middleditch:

quote:

But I’m not sitting here saying, “I need more lines. I’m not funny enough.” I’m not Thomas Middleditch. I’m me

quote:

Thomas Middleditch has always wanted to be a star. He’s always wanted to be the star of the show.

quote:

HBO and Alec Berg, specifically, kind of thought — and I guess apparently Thomas Middleditch — I guess they thought, "Alright, maybe this is the end of the character.

quote:

So I would love to work with them forever. It’s just that I will never be on Silicon Valley again

Of course, this being TJ Miller it could all be part of the gag.

Disappointing the Erricch Bacchmann is no longer a part of Silicon Valley. I might cry in a taco bell. I've watched interviews of Middleditch, and can believe that he doesn't like being 3rd or 4th fiddle on the show despite being the main character. I think some of this was a gag though.

Everybody was like, “What the f— are you talking about? You’re on this successful show. Don’t you want three more years of solid acting work and don’t you want to be a famous television actor?” And I was like, “No, not really.” I’d like to parasail into the Cannes Film Festival for The Emoji Movie because that’s the next new funny thing that will make people laugh.

Eesh. Sounds like the guy went full retard.

I was under the impression that him and Middleworth were friends, so I'm thinking this could be a bit. Maybe I'm naive

After reading a little more this guy is either the most delusional person on earth, or is just doing a bit.

Maybe this is all a ruse and so that he can come back on the show later as a heel?

His HBO standup was pretty terrible. I really wanted to like it, but I don't think I laughed once.

Read the whole article, not just what OP decided to include.

He doesn't sound like as much of a douche as OP indicated.

TJ Miller sounds like that character actor who got too much attention and now believes he's actually an all around comedic talent.

Yeah, I tried to watch it . . . it was truly a waste of time. I kept waiting for the funny to come and it never did.

Not a spoiler (because there is nothing to spoil) but the standup show ends with him standing silently for about a minute and spraying himself in the face with water. The crowd was silent except for the occasional uncomfortable laughter. They cheered at the end as if they were happy for it to be over. Either strange or he is one of those guys who thinks his humor is above us.

Yeah, he's pretty insufferable from what I hear. He assaulted his Uber driver for being a Trump voter. He is totally up his own arse and thinks he's God's gift to humanity.

He decided to resign from Silicon Valley and his first movie out of the gate is the Emoji Movie, the worst concept ever for a movie. He did go full retard.

I really hope that's a gag setting up a return later. Dude it not a star. His roles will always be Erlich-esque.

Would be pretty hilarious if Erlich was representative of TJ tho

I had to turn his standup off......I had no idea he was that obnoxious....and unfunny to boot.
He needs to stick to roles and voice overs

This is the interview from EW that I read last week. The tone seems different to me.

Goes to show it's all about timing and who you know. He's got a HBO special, meanwhile most guys at the local improv on a Saturday night will never make it big and are hilarious

I guess that's why Luke Bryan is worth 100 million yet their is a badass country singer in a hole in the wall in Nashville making 20k a year. Lol
