What's the movie's board overall opinion on Titanic? Overall a good movie? Cheesy? Guilty pleasure? Sappy love story? Awful and hasn't aged well?

I think we can all admit that Billy Zane was fantastic in the movie.

Surprisingly watchable for a three and a half hour love story.

I like it a lot. Super entertaining. The titanic is inherently fascinating and seeing this as a kid was yuge.

Also the first great pair of gozangas I saw on the big screen. Sarah Connor was technically the first pair but not much going on there.

If I'm flipping through the channels with nothing on I'll stop and watch if it is after the ship has hit the iceberg. I don't really care much for anything before that

Every thread on this board sums up any reference to Titanic as Rose being a fat, selfish bitch.

Isn't this one of the movies where the lines blur between the protagonist and antagonist?

I remember being mesmerized the first time I saw it in the theater when I was like 12.

There was no social media at the time to spoil the film before it even came out, so that made it even better.

What was the emergency boat seating priority? I looked at the stats and 50% of children survived vs 72% of women. Kind of messed up stats.

I love how Cal was getting on that damn boat, regardless of what he had to do.

One of the best movies ever made. We’ve yet to see a Zeitgeist film like that since. Avatar came close, but didn’t dominate the cultural discussion like this one. You had to buy your tickets days in advance two months after its release to see it in BTR.

One of those films that has to be seen in the theater. Everyone knew it would sweep the Oscars once it was released.

I was a senior in high school when it came out. Saw it three times in the theatre and got laid after each time.
