re: Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri | *SPOILERS* Discussion
Saw it tonight and it's easily the best movie I've seen this year. Couldn't believe I was the only person in the theater.

re: Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri | *SPOILERS* Discussion
shite... I did a search on my phone for the movie and the word "spoilers" was cut off. I assumed this was the non-spoilers thread. I'm only half an idiot in real life.

So, my problem with the movie was there were simply too many scenes that didn't make sense or made the story jump too much.

Dixon beats the shite out of wellby and everyone just watches? Why wasn't that MFer put in jail?

Why did Idaho guy go and harrass the mom? Made no sense at all, some dude that had nothing to do with anyone in the story shows up to scare the mom? That was a stupid scene and really seemed out of place.

Then he just happens to show up at the bar with another dude? There needed to be some explanation.

Then Dixon and Shitty mom decides to drive all the way to Idaho even though the guy was just in Ebbing? My theory is that originally , Idaho guy was going to be the killer, but they rewrote the ending because him being the killer was "too easy", despite the foreshadowing in Willouby's letter to shitty mom.

And some how shitty mom is able to hear the reporter saying how the burned billboards should be the end of it while she is driving down the road?

The movie was great due to the fantastic performances and most every scene was powerful but it severely lacked continuity.

One other pet peeve was they called Ebbing the South. It may be Southern, and definitely 'country' but it isn't "the south". I also didn't like all of the cussing in front of the children. So Willouby is supposed to be this fantastic sheriff, husband, father and he's throwing f-bombs around like his daughters are in the Navy? (This has less to do with the movie and more of my personal preference. I cuss, but not in front of my kids.)

Was he? I never got that vibe. He’s just a sheriff in a small town who every one respects bc he’s the sheriff

I thought this as well.

Otherwise him showing up in mom's store to threaten her makes no sense. If he is just some random in town how does he know who she is and where she works. Or why does he even care. That whole store scene just didn't fit in.

I really enjoyed the movie as Well, but I agree with a lot of your points.

Yeah, the gift shop scene was a plot hole, unless someone can explain otherwise.

I was of the opinion that the father was the killer. He showed a lot of anger trying to choke the mom. He showed he didn't give a shite about his kids. He showed that he could and would set things on fire. And he liked young girls. Just a theory. I suppose the cops would have taken his DNA, but we are talking about some pretty shitty cops.

That aside, this movie was really about the characters and performances. Which were all great. Rockwell, Harrison, McDormand, all fantastic. I think Rockwell probably has an Oscar nom in his future. Maybe all three do.

Great movie. I really enjoyed it. 8/10

Great great movie.

I might have liked that more than In Bruges. Maybe the best film I've seen this year.

Saw this Friday and thought it was ok. I’m very indifferent when it comes to dark comedies. Sam Rockwell is the man though. Loved him in 7 psychopaths also

Noooo way. In Bruges is the GOAT dark comedy. And you’ve always been one of its biggest advocates

Exactly what I thought watching the trailer. I didn’t expect it to be as good as it was, thought it would be blow to goodfellas. Just a cheap knockoff of the coen brothers.

I was more than pleasantly surprised. Absolute unreal performances by Rockwell and the rest. Rockwell should be in the running for best supporting actor no doubt

In Bruges is a better film but I could see someone liking this one better simply because it's a more easily digestible movie. In Bruges has some tough accent barriers and quick hitting dialogue that you really have to be paying attention to fully enjoy

It's always a nice surprise whenever he's in something that's not GOTs. I had no idea he was in this and he killed it

Part of that was Frances and part of it was the minimalist score.

The acting was A+ as I expected. One of Woody's best performances. Frances and Rockwell never phone it in, so I wasn't worried about that. The rest of the acting was elevated by the core cast.

Went to go see it tonight, very good dark comedy. I agree with the two main gripes in her about the casting of Woody Harrelson's wife and the scene with the not-killer taunting Mildred. Outside of that, it was an excellent movie. I'd still say Dunkirk is my favorite from this year, but this one is up there.

It hasn't been mentioned yet in here, but the 19 year old girlfriend had me cracking up every time she was on screen.

Also, Cinemark fricked up part of my screening so I got a free movie pass, so that's nice.

Yeah, she needs more roles. She has great comedic timing. I hope to see her shoot up after this.
