Things you thought would carry over from Stranger Things S2 to S3 that didn't

For me, it was Hopper and Dustin getting spored in the tunnels. I thought for sure that would come into play in S3 as Hopper and Dustin would start coming under the influence of the Mindflayer....I was dead wrong.

Anything else like this that didn't carry over that you were hoping would?

Good call.

I did a rewatch this past week of Seasons 1 and 2. Season 2 was great with the exception of the trip to Chicago.

I thought the other kids that 11 met would have some play. Even though i really didnt like that episode last season i thought it would make some mention at least.

I don't understand why everyone claims that one-off episode was so horrible. Y'all act as if the entire season was spent in Chicago with those kids.

Personally, I thought that ep was a smart deviation from the main storyline to serve two purposes: Learn more about 11 and her mother's past & allow 11 to develop and hone her powers at the tutelage of another Hawkins experiment. It was classic mentor-mentee superpowers stuff. That ep was the reason 11 leveled-up to the point of being able to destroy demi-dogs with ease.

Could a brown girl being the focus of that ep have something to do with all the undeserved hate?

The mind wonders...

No it’s the fact that the episode sticks out like a sore thumb. Why does the fricking race card have be brought up on everything? You think people are bothered by Lucas or Erica? No

With that said, the intro to season 2 and the episode were absolute outliers of a good season. They could have done without it and it would have still been fine.

Nah, it's just that her schtick is WAY overblown. She might end up crushing on Dustin, tho.

They aren’t bothered by her skin color.... they’re bothered with her over the topness.

Or could be the fact that the episode just flat out sucked. It was awful. The gang was basically cartoon characters out of MTV. Episode was entirely out of place.

I thoroughly enjoy any scenes of powers being developed/honed. That's a classic sci-fi trope that always delivers for me.

A single-episode deviation to learn more about 11's past/potential is not the huge bomb the Neanderthals on this board would have one believe.

I've already broken down why the ep makes total sense from a story perspective.

Because it is the Wild Card. It cannot be defeated even through math, statistics, logic or reasoning.

I didn’t hate the episode. It was kind of a weird fit within the season but at least we got a bigger glimpse into what they were doing to the kids at hawkins lab, and we learned Brenner could be/is alive.

It was just so out of place. I'm think that S4 will branch outside of Hawkins and we may see them come back into play, but who knows.

I was almost positive Brenner and El’s “sister” were going to come back and play a relatively big role

I thought the same thing honestly, but neither showed up in S3
