They/Them might be the worst movie of the year
Posted by lsutigersFTW on 8/7/22 at 11:18 am123
Like, like I would probably be floored if I am reflecting on my best/worst movies of the year list at the end of December and this isn’t my worst or second worst.
The trailer at least made it look intriguing, and it is absolutely nothing like what the trailer wants you to think it is. I bet the people who made this movie were all smug thinking that they were teaching a social lesson or something. But all they did was make an abomination of a movie. Kevin Bacon and the chick from Veep should’ve known better than to sign on to do this garbage
This isn’t a spoiler, but there is a kill in the first five minutes of the movie that could’ve been omitted completely. It adds nothing to the movie, and ties into the movie in zero ways. It was as pointless a scene as there could be

I don’t how how this got funding but this is great in theory. I guess they “subvert expectations” somehow though

No way I’m watching a movie titled they/them
I don’t even like interacting with people that use “pronouns”.

You’d be surprised about how many people use them on LinkedIn that I know professionally. Most of the time when I see them it makes perfect sense.

That’s on you for seeing a movie with that title and thinking it wasn’t going to be woke crap.

I'm honestly shocked anyone watched this.

The first thing that crossed my mind when seeing the title was giant ants. Them were the days.

I gave it a try, I like campy horror flicks. But, wow, this was really really bad.

This wasn't obvious by the title?

It is.

I more or less meant like when the killer was revealed and was giving a diatribe explaining their motivation, the writers probably all patted themselves on the back for this scene in particular, but it was the dumbest shite like it was eye-rollingly bad

Title is enough to make me never watch it.

Seriously? Attention whores are everywhere these days. And attention whores use pronouns.

Sounds like an inciting incident to lock audience interest in the movie.

Such an insane sentence to say out loud
What's insane is involving casual acquaintances in discussions about this stuff.
We are talking about boundaries and decent behavior and people simply don't agree. JMO but I generally fall into the classical liberal approach where my rights extend until they impede on the rights of others.

Whenever this topic is brought up, it makes absolutely no sense to me. If I am talking to a person, I would never use third person pronouns. I would address the person by their name or second person pronouns. So, when someone requests that a person use different pronouns than normal, they are saying "When you talk about me to other people, talk like this." It's possible I am completely forgetting a different way that these pronouns are used, but it's not coming to mind.
