Holy shite that looks amazing. Any of you cinematographers, how do they add sound to these videos? Is it as simple as playing the video and dubbing in sound effects?

What’s up with the promos saying it is in select theatres on 12/17 and 12/27 ONLY? No way they’re only showing this for two days, huh??

You should be able to find it online.

I watched it a few weeks ago. Very cool project and worth seeing, but a couple of things were a little weird:
1. They had actors making some dialog and background chatter to go along with video where you could see people were talking. Felt a bit unnatural while looking at real footage.
2. They were careful to try to make the faces look good, but it's really hard to make the skin tones look natural and get the lighting right, so the faces sometimes looked a bit too "off" and fake.

This looks amazing.
And yes, the comment about immediacy makes sense because we tend to shrug off black and white as not part of our world.
It's just an historic event. Something to read about in school books, etc.
This brings the War to life.

Going tonight to the 3D showing with my 21yo son.

I was going to go tonight in Knoxville, but schedules require me to wait till the 27th. I was wondering if I should go the 3D route or not. I'm concerned about losing some clarity on the remastered footage in the 3D version. Please let us know what your experience is like. I've been stoked about this since the first day I heard about it.

Got tickets for 12/27.
It will be my father, son, father-in-law, and myself.
My father-in-law had a grandfather and two uncles in the British Army during World War I. His grandfather was wounded, one uncle taken prisoner in 1917, and the other uncle was killed in the Battle of the Somme in September 1916. So my father-in-law has a particular interest in seeing this.
