Scars are due to Maggie stealing a kidney from everyone before leaving the show. She needed a way to make money until her new show started.

She's going to be sitting next to Shelley Long in the unemployment line. She's not a leading lady and her run of the mill cop show blows. I hope she at least gets to be in the movies. I don't think she will be getting many paychecks after that.

The combination of her not letting people into Alexandria and the scars located right about where idiots think their kidneys are - leads me to believe that there was some kind of disease and that her unseen son with Rick was threatened in some way. If that's true, I'm guessing we'll get a reveal of the kid, and he'll be deformed or scarred or retarded or something. Maybe the scars are from kidney donation attempts.
