Probably his hint to her that he wants to hit it from behind.

- Crazy chick subplot was kinda stupid and pointless. There was no payoff either (I was hoping the three questions would be). No idea why Rick didn't blast her immediately when she attacked him.
I thought about those things, too. I really didn't get the point of the crazy Irish chick. The only thing I can think of is that somehow they will come back as zombies later and maybe Rick will recognize her? The zombie under the blanket was still moving.

I'll help you clear it out.

But if you don't want to go to France I think I got a pretty good place scouted as well ...

That's about an eight to ten foot brick wall that goes around that entire property.

I don't know if this is old or not but the producer mentioned that there are more than a few story points being setup in that premiere episode:

quote:

What’s most exciting for me is that little nuances that we set up in the first episode pay off throughout all of the first eight episodes. So by the time you get to the mid-season finale, you’ll go back and watch the first episode again and you’ll see things that we setup there, that will pay off in that finale. People will want to watch it over and over again. And that’s all thanks to that brilliant man right there (points to showrunner and writer Scott Gimple).

Obviously Michonne's obsession with finding the Governor is leading up to a battle.

Tyrese's struggle with being comfortable doing anything related to killing zombies?

Carl never being able to "be a kid" again?

I thought the exact same thing...fricking rookies

I also thought why a fricking shotgun? Heavy as shite and holds 5 rounds max (which are also heavy as shite). While I'm on the subject, Rick's six-shooter is fricking dumb.

When I'm in charge, everyone will be issued a .22 and ammo will be uniform and light.

And why the hell haven't they implemented crazy black dude's methods of zombie trapping with the animals and spikes to keep them off the fence and make them easy to clear later?

I thought the same thing when he was in the woods. Herschel was all "The council voted and you need to take a gun next time you go out in the woods...if things get hairy, you need protection." Next shot is zoomed in on Rick's gun with six bullets max.

Rick even said it in this episode that if he was overrun 6 shots wouldn't help him.

It's the first thing I remember thinking about this show way back in the first season was, "Why does he carry a 6 shooter?"

I would carry a AR15-22 and nothing else.

Wonder where they are going with this? I know Rick said he wasn't a dictator anymore, but will there be some sort of power struggle? I just don't see him doing anything he conceives as dumb because the "council" told him to.

What the hell happens to the "council" when they scramble the prison and go back to mayhem? Seems kinda silly to try to make something of this for just an episode or two.

I'm pretty sure rick cut the head off zombie potato head and put it with the other zombie so they could "be together"

Anyone else catch the Rick/Michonne vibes? Him kissing her horse, his first what I would consider happy emotions in two seasons when she came through the gate, the banter between them, her relationship with Carl. Obviously its been building since Clear, you think they will go anywhere with it?

Also I knew the actress playing Sasha looked familiar. I looked up one of my old syllabus's online. She is a graduate of Alabama and was the TA for my Intro to Theater course back in 2007.

I don't know if she is married but she was just Sonequa Martin then, now she is Sonequa Martin-Green. She also wore glasses all the time when teaching the class.

Since this show basically draws you in to rip your heart out I'll say there's headache ahead for this little trio. Same probably true for the Glen/Maggie connection.

It seems like Rick got burnt out being the top guy with all the responsibility and killing involved with the role. And Darryl has stepped up into that role.

For some reason, I'm wondering if Darryl will start to burn out and if so, who the hell will step up then? Will Rick be recovered enough to take on those responsibilities again? Someone else? Or will everything go to hell so quickly that it doesn't make much of a difference and everybody better be killing zombies left and right just to get a bit of breathing room?

Also the council somewhat resembles the triumvirate from the Comics.

They did. Go rewatch the episode.

ETA: Just not all around the prison gates...yet.

Because for various reasons Rick's Python is his signature weapon. It shows that likely pre ZA Rick being a small town deputy didn't fire a gun much. It also fits the archetypes of the Walking Dead being a post modern western. A revolver is usually considered a "good gun" because of its limited capacity. But if you actually watched every episode, Rick also carries at various times a Glock 17, a Remington 700 BDL, a Mossberg 500, and an M4 carbine.

Like he said, they don't him carrying the gun because it makes that big of a difference (he has already been shown to be a proficient Walker killed with a fire axe, his hunting knife, a hatchet, and even the handle of the Python). It is the council slowly trying to push him back into being the leader, the symbol they can rally around. Taking his gun back is just another example of that.

Did nobody see the final episode of season 2 when they escaped the farm? Capacity does not matter, their guns will not run out of ammo. IIRC, Hershel shot off 50+ shotgun shells out of his pump without reloading once. Also, Darryl's ability to get headshots with one hand on a moving motorcycle was quite impressive.
