The Walking Dead (No Spoilers)

So I recently started watching the Walking Dead. Please no spoilers. Don’t be that guy. I just finished season 3 and I am totally hooked.
For those of you who have seen it, does it continue to be as good? Or does it fade into mediocrity like most TV shows that go 8 seasons.
Once again no spoilers.

Like any long running show it has some dips and peaks. Few shows can keep that level of consistency over a long time.
Some people will tell you in went off a cliff, I actually like the last two seasons honestly.

I don’t know a single person that has watched that show for like the last five years.
First few seasons were great, but it got really bad.

If you liked season 3, then you will love season 4. Season 3 remains the worst season to date, in my opinion.
Season 6 and 7 got a little off track. Haven't started season 8 yet.

There's two or three really good episodes per season. The rest are mostly forgettable.

you've already powered thru the season at herschel's farm, the worst is behind you
the two seasons with the savior war are a chore to watch. i completely skipped the last 1/2 season where the war was resolved and dont feel like i missed a thing
its a good watch otherwise and i enjoyed the last season very much

You'll like season 4 for sure. Maybe even season 5.
It starts to get seriously bad from there though. I'm actually embarrassed to admit that I stuck with it all the way through season 8.
For comparison's sake, I really enjoyed the show Dexter. Even as much as that show dipped in quality, I'm glad I saw it to the very end. I still regret how many wasted hours I put into the Walking Dead.

You are crazy. I appreciate season 2 more than ever after suffering through the last few seasons.

Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed the show up until midway of Season 4. It was must-see tv.
But the show never rivaled that stretch, imo. From then on, it meanders far too often and rehashes similar characters in just different locations until it becomes predictable and boring. But I was invested.
I basically stopped faithfully watching after Season 6. I randomly watched maybe just a couple of the next seasons openers or mid-season finales or ending finales. I found you could skip 6 to 10 episodes and realize you missed nothing significant.
Now, I wish I just would have stopped at its peak in mid-season 4.

The whole series is a roller coaster. You'll have a few slow episodes followed by a kick-arse episode. The bad thing is that the kick-arse episodes won't make a whole lot of sense without the seeing the slow ones. You just have to soldier through it all.
I wasn't a good soldier. I copped out two seasons ago. For me, it jumped the shark when Rick & Co. made it across to the Atlantic to England, and Rick actually lobs the head off of a zombie Queen Elizabeth II. That was just useless and stupid.

Season 4 is probably one the best seasons
Season 5 has a hospital arc that you'll either like or hate but overall it's good
Season 6 is pretty good with an annoying ending.
Season 7 starts strong but gets pretty meh.
Season 8 is easily the worst and has a major controversial moment that killed a lot of the fanbase
Season 9 starts off a tad shaky but after the 5th episode kicks off in a great way. My personal favorite season actually

It sounds to me like some people didn’t like the show much to start. Season 2 to me was by far the best season of the three I watched so it shocks me that people thought it was the worst.
They did a great job with the casting. Lori was basically the only character I didn’t have a strong opinion on.
I hated Andrea and Carl, since Andrea spent all of season 2 being ultra-feminist trying to prove herself. Then she shot Darryl after a direct order from Rick not too, and no one even gets mad at her.
Carl is a whiny brat who I hated a bit less in Season 3.

Have you picked up on the subtle clues dropped about who is mowing everyone's grass during the zombie apocalypse?

Don't know if I can do it anymore, found myself fast forwarding through all the senseless 1 on 1 convos.
Didn't watch the last season, maybe if someone condensed it into an hour or two(I'm sure this is possible) I'd watch it.

For me personally, it stopped being appointment TV after the mid-season finale in Season 4. And what I mean by that is there are 4-ish exciting episodes with major happenings in each season, with what i would consider filler for ratings comprising the rest.
I felt like they've basically been recycling the same general story arc repeatedly.
- Group wanders countryside
- Group finds safe zone
- Group encounters baddie and crew
- Group goes to war with baddie and crew
- Group wins but loses a couple of key members and safe zone
- Repeat
