I have the original soundtrack on vinyl. Once in a blue moon it’ll get a spin and all of a sudden you have a bunch of adults belting out childhood memories.

I hate it and have never managed to sit through it all the way

How does it end? I hope the Nazis caught them.

Im kinda ambivalent about it. The music is certainly memorable, but the story is pretty sappy (despite its supposedly true origins). It was apparently an unpopular opinion to express publicly, but there was allegedly a group of film critics who hated it (and referred to it amongst themselves as The Sound of Mucus” )

*****Spoiler Alert*****

They did catch them, but a bunch of nuns committed an act of terroristic vandalism and they got away.

Captain Vonn Trapp's country was about to get raped by the Nazi's. All the Jews were gonna be sent to Buchenwald, the men conscripted to the Eastern Front, they women used for who knows what.

And what does a Captain in the Military do? Run like a bitch. Just go dancing away you frickhead, and let America come unfrick your shite.

Captain Vonn Trapp should have just done a three way with the Baroness and Maria.

The real smokeshow was Liesl (Charmian Carr).

In The Apartment Jack Lemmon invites Shirley Maclaine to a Broadway show. In the original script the show was TSOM, but Billy Wilder saw it and hated it so much he changed the script -- in the film the show is The Music Man.

Fun fact- Captain Von Trapp was a U-Boat captain in WWI. It's weird to think about Austria having submarines a long time ago.

Yes, I know the Austro-Hungarian Empire stretched out to the Adriatic Sea. It's still funny to me.

It's a ridiculously great movie, and it has more than stood the test of time. Primarily because Julie Andrews has one of the best singing voices ever, and she turns schmaltz into something greater. Besides, anti-Nazi schmaltz is fine with me.

Grew up to be TV’s Spider-Man and “Director Sam Wanamaker” in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

I love musicals, Julie Andrews, and anti-Nazism. It's a perfect trifecta.
