Anybody else see it yet? I just got back. The production design is absolutely mesmerizing. I feel like I really need time to process it.

This thread needs some gag humor and SJW activism

You know, I actually am starting to come around to your side a bit. I still enjoyed the movie on my 3rd viewing, but I’m really starting to dislike Crait.

Three viewings?

It’s people like you as to why there should be licenses to procreate

That should be true regardless as humans are a disease.

Maybe after my 10th viewing I’ll hate it as much as you do.

I’ll give you a lot of credit for calling it Star Wars and not A New Hope. Makes your gripes a little more legitimate in my eyes.

Can you guys just go start 8 more threads apiece about Star Wars and not derail things in here?

Not surprised by that. What are your initial thoughts on the overall movie?

I really like it. I almost wish I would've known less going in than I did if that makes sense? It's a compelling story. Great performances. Really cool to see outcasts find significance and meaning in each other.

We had high expectations and were still blown away. So much to get from this movie. There was a guy from the previous showing who stayed to see it again and wouldn’t shut up about it.

Doug Jones is the true star of the movie. I have no clue why he isnt getting more love for his portrayal as the monster.

Saw there was a warning for graphic nudity. Did she let the creature PIIHB?

Yes. Tons of nudity.

A strong possibility.

Saw it tonight. It was amazing. In a world where crap Star Wars and comic book movies keep getting made and are making billions, it's encouraging that something like The Shape of Water exists. Del Toro is the only director who would conceive of and have the talent to pull off a film that features a love story between a sea creature and a human woman that also has a musical number with the woman and creature dancing. It could have easily been a farce but it was beautiful and satisfying. Sally Hawkins really put it all out there (in more ways than one) and should be receiving recognition at awards time. If you want to make a statement about quality movies, skip TLJ and go see The Shape of Water.

Saw it today. Love stories don't usually resonate with me like they do with most people so I didn't effect me like it would most people. Still it was a great movie and worth seeing. Ending was a little corny but not bad. Somehow a mute woman having sex with a fishman was less weird than Leia flying through space.

I need to rewatch it. It was very well done and Micheal Shannon killed it, but some of the scenes like the random singing scene and the ending kind of left me like wtf. People walking out of the theater hated it, I wasn't at that level but it was the most confusing I've ever been about how I thought the movie was. I honestly couldn't tell you if I liked it or not

Fishman giving her gills was kind of silly. I get that he's a healer but to completely transform her lungs is a bit of a stretch. Also it was weird how mute girl wanted to humanize fishman but she never even bothered to give him a name.

People who say this are not familiar with Del Toro. I walked out of the theater thinking “That’s Del Toro alright.”
