Didn’t see any threads on it yet. Is it any good?

It’s decent.
Not necessarily a thrilling show but I find that entire era / alternate history extremely interesting so it works for me.

Like a lot of liberal metaphor shows that we're seeing on Showtime, HBO is outdoing everyone.
In their sophomoric eyes, it's a metaphor for Trump. Because you know, Trump is a Nazi and literally Hitler.
But worse than that, just like the crappy SJW show Hunters. It no longer carries any meaning, so watered down.
fricking move on man. How long are we going to make movies about WWII and the frickin' Nazis who were in power for like a Nothingburger when it comes to the history of the world and even the history of just the 20th century.
Nazis were in power for 12 years. Shite Stalin and the Communists were in power almost 100 years.
Who had the bigge impact on the globe in the 20th Century? The Soviets, by far.

Melt snowflake
I voted for Trump and support extremely strict immigration policies but Jesus Christ man, get a hold of yourself.
It’s a fricking show.

The metaphor for Trump is pretty spot on, I stopped watching it too, but maybe I’m too sensitive to the trigger since it’s verbalized near daily.

The show’s producers are most definitely trying to slip in some kind of a half-assed point.
I just like to think I’m grounded enough to enjoy it on it’s own merits without letting them beat me over the head with their “messaging”.

Some of it is unsettling when you read about some of the activity in the United States pre world war 2. Along with the fact that Charles Lindbergh certainly was a Nazi sympathizer and didn't exactly do a good job of hiding it.

The WWII nazi shite is so overdone that it’s made HITLER stale and meaningless
Why the frick can’t we move on?

Did "Man In The High Castle" or "Wolfenstein" get you, folks, this up in arms because it's an alternative reality series?

Very interesting that they’ve used real people here. Wonder if the families of Lindbergh and Ford have tried to challenge any of it.

The book used 47 historical figures. I would imagine the Ford family doesn't want to touch this one given the fact that he was an antisemite, The Dearborn paper, was the only American mentioned in a positive light in Mein Kempf and had some questionable statements in the lead up to WW2.
As far as Linderbegh goes, his German families probably have nothing to say. It would be interesting to see what his four surviving children have to say about this miniseries.

This is something I think every time we get a new WWII movie or show. While I certainly enjoy them, I feel we have so much more historical war stories to be told than just this one. The Civil War was huge, yet we barely see anything made for this era. Same with the French Indian War. What about the actual founding of America and those beginning times? We certainly do have some movies from these times, but they are rare. I feel like the 50s-70s cared more about them than we do now. Maybe it's the bombs and shite that makes for great scenes, but WWII has become oversaturated.

Everyone of those networks have become unwatchable. If it’s original content is 100% garbage and if it’s a DOC it’s 95% fabricated. These people are miserable.

Alternative history plots metaphorically juxtaposed against modern day politics rarely succeed because the whole time you watch you feel like you are the writer’s therapist. You can feel them working through their anger and ignorance, and the actual historical events are just a prop for them to do that. They are written for their Amen Corner and they alienate anybody who values truth over ideological possession.

Yeah. Not like they did a whole lot with that 12 years.

There's been two threads already, but of course instead of talking about the show, both became negative discussions of the show as a metaphor for Trump and Republicans = nazis, etc. This, of course, discounting the fact that the book was written 16 years ago in 2004.
I read the book back when it came out, liked THAT a lot, and they are staying amazingly true to the book so I like IT a lot. It may be a little slow for some; it's not an action packed story to say the least, but it does hold your interest. Very good period piece, great characters, neat alt-history angle, etc.
With only 6 episodes, it would probably be a perfect binge watch in a couple of weeks.

Alternate history is some of the most compelling television IMO. Especially based around the 1940s-1960s time period
