Just set the DVR. How did this escape me?

How can you go wrong with that cast?

Thought that was an excellent first episode. I’ll watch anything Mendelsohn is in, but Bateman has killed the first episode and a half

“Did you try and see if the boy was still alive or anything?”

“Still alive???”

Subtle lines already good

Really enjoyed the first two episodes. I haven’t seen the book, so I’m excited to see where this goes

I kept forgetting g to listen to the book, but started it tonight. Hopefully will have it finished by episode 3 so I can get caught up.

SPOILERS BELOW

This was the most disjointed two hours of television I've seen in a long time.

I have zero connection to any character in the entire show. I am at a loss as to the motivations of the lead detective to continue his investigation when the DNA matched the saliva (did I miss that?).

The show thus far has no natural flow, and the choppy dialogue and introduction of characters is definitely like some shite stephen king would write. I don't know why this show frustrated the way that it did, but I won't be watching another episode.

I mean, is this a shutter island type of thing where the dude is locked up in an insane asylum and we are being fed his delusions? Is there a false narrator telling the entire story that we are seeing? Frankly, I don't know, and have such little emotional connection with a single character...I don't care.

I’ve seen a couple of magazine reviews. The reviews are not good. Said what works for Bateman in Ozark as a producer/director because of the strength of the actors as a whole doesn’t work with the ensemble here. The book was a good read but went off the deep end to becoming ridiculous by the end. Seems like your overview is in line with what I’ve read. It was a crazy story to begin with.

I had the completely opposite reaction. While I’ve always loved King’s books, I’ve never been much of a fan of movie/tv adaptations of his works. But I absolutely loved both episodes. I was glad they showed them back to back, because after the first episode, I couldn’t wait to see the next one. Loved every minute of it.

I’m going into this blind and glad I did. My wife and I know nothing of the book or movie and are on the edge of our seats.

Great tv

It's one of the only books that I just stopped reading. I think I got to page 300 and was like "frick this"

That being said, I'm still watching and I enjoyed the first two episodes. It probably doesn't seem as disjointed to me, because I know what's going on, due to having read most of the book.

I didn't read the book but that was two hours of I find the show to be very compelling. I was stoked that they aired the second episode right after the first.

I agree that the first episode was choppy but I feel that they cut up the timeline on purpose to create some drama and tension which I think they did a fine job of.

I don't get your Shutter Island comparison at all. This appears to be a murder mystery with a subtle supernatural lining.

Kudos to Bateman!! He's becoming a very interesting director. Seems like an odd choice for a project following up Bad Words but apparently he's directed a few episodes of Ozark so this is kind of a natural progression I guess.
