Tonite's episode was probably a 10 out of a 10.

Very star trek feel to it. Well written and we had character development.

I also caught the Darmok reference as homage to TNG. This has been a very fun ride. I enjoy the hell out of this show.

So which of the two catch-phrases are you guys using in your daily lives?

"Can you open this jar of pickles for me."

or

"Everybody strap in."

So was Axanar. It was so good that CBS had to sue them because it threatened to outdo their precious Discovery

You're full of shite.

CBS sued them because they set up a store where they were selling CBS's intellectual property. Everything from Model Star Ships to fricking Klingon labeled coffee. It had zero to do with discovery and everything to do with the fact that the people running Axanar were profiting off of Star Trek's name.

There is a reason that the Axanar "fan film" show runners suddenly settled when the court wanted them to open their books.

1.5 million dollars raised on various kickstarters magically vanished into someone's pocket...and it wasn't CBS.

Crappy fan films don't have that kind of following. The Prelude to Axanar video has over 3.2 M views. Any sales of Axanar associated items were because the quality was that good.

You're missing the point.

It's you who misses the point. You summarily dismissed The Orville as a fan film, my point was that the quality of fan films is such now that they are beginning to rival that of major production companies.

Fine. I'll amend my statement to, "The Orville is a crappy fan film when compared to Axanar and Discovery."

But the point that you were missing is that Axanar was leaving the realm of parody and fan fiction when it moved to selling merchandise and creating a full on Star Trek feature film. No one was questioning the quality of Axanar or its side products. You just can't make your own Star Trek feature film without the blessing of Paramount. They wanted to see how far they could go without pissing off Paramount and they got their answer.

I just looked at my guide and it shows an old show tonight. The first episode actually. Wonder why they would do that?

It's supposed to have 13 episodes for season 1 and they have only done six.

This is a damned interesting episode. Knicks both PC society and the oppressive nature of social media.

Of course, you'd think they could hack into the voting system with their tech.

This was my favorite episode of the series. Great criticism of our cultural obsession with recording devices, evaluating people by online presence, "people's court" of social media, etc. Really loved it.

But what if anyone corroborates the stories?
Don't worry, they won't.

I've been looking it. I thought it was going to be Million Ways in space. It's a decent sci fi show

That's what I was thinking hack the system. Or how did it even identify him with a fake badge.

Another great episode tonight. It was very similar to the Black Mirror episode "Nose Dive" but much better
