I'm gonna take a wait and see. Dude can be funny sometimes. I think he kind of ran Family Guy into the ground but they had some funny stuff especially early on.

If they could pull off a kind of Galaxy Quest vibe this could be good. But who knows what it'll actually be.

Is it a TV series or a movie?

Unless it's a miniseries, it's a TV show.

As for those saying they aren't sure about MacFarlane I understand... But what ended up happening to family Guy mostly happened after he stopped having a large part in the show, but I do understand your hesitation. Ted 1 was awesome, not Ted 2 was mediocre at best, he does seem to be hit or miss these days

I finally got a chance to watch it so I figured why not dredge up this old thread. I know there was some talk about the show in the Anybody Else Not a Fan of Seth McFarland thread but it was mixed in with a lot of stuff on McFarland in general.

I went into Ep. 1 with pretty low expectations. The reviews I read and the takes on that thread were mostly negative.

But overall I thought it was worth giving it a few more episodes.

Some of the acting was really bad. Mostly the admiral and the black navigator guy. McFarland himself wasn't very good either. But I found the rest of the crew were from ok to pretty good.

The writing wasn't sterling, especially towards the beginning but as the episode went on it got better. Hopefully that's a good sign.

I didn't care for the "twist" at the end and thought it was unnecessary. But it didn't affect the show for me.

When I saw the previews I thought "Galaxy Quest the TV Show". If those are your expectations does it live up to that?

Not for me. But I'm a big fan of Galaxy Quest. Neither the acting nor the writing in this one measures up to Galaxy Quest. The production values do maybe.

Seth actually made a couple of cameo appearances in Enterprise. It's no secret he's a huge ST fan.

Can't get behind anything where Seth Macfarlane is the on screen star. Dude can write but can't act and has a very punchable face because of this constant douche-vibe he puts out.

It just wasn't as funny after the initial cancellation.

Just watched the pilot, and TBH I don't hate it. Don't go into it expecting Family Guy in space, because this is its own thing.

Apparently, it's not even supposed to be a comedy. I guess that's good, since I didn't laugh once.

I really wanted to like it, but it's just not very good.

I was surprised that it was more like Star Trek than a parody of Star Trek.

I didn't dislike it. It has lots of faults, but I think I would like to see more.

I think the problem here is that it's lacking a point of view. It needs to find one fast and hit it hard.

I kept thinking where is this show going? Is it supposed to be funny or is this just bad?

I kept trying to get into it, I really did. Maybe it just had a shitty first episode. I don't know. I did see one review where the next (or the 3rd) is pretty good.

I'll give it one more shot.
