Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow are underrated actors.
No PC schitt yet and I'm on episode 4. It is strange to watch a weekly show again. Used to binge watching.

Are they? I thought they were highly regarded actors. I think what you mean is we often forget about how great they are b/c they don't churn out movies every 6 months like some other A listers. I guess that can equate to "underrated".
Both are amazing.

not really relevant to the discussion of the show.
I started it last week, and finally got caught up. It's a great show, and really intense. Jeff Bridges plays ex CIA really good. I can't wait to see where it goes.

BS - the sheer volume of SJW/Woke/PC shite out there makes it absolutely relevant when we're lucky enough to find a great quality show that isn't trying to bludgeon you over the head with "the narrative"
EDIT: Old man and The Bear are some of the best new tv I've seen in years

Potential spoilers below...
I don't think Chase stole Hamzad's wife, I think he took his sister. She had a baby in the first flashback and stood up when he came back. She looked happy. Emily is Hamzad's niece.

I like the theory, although I'm pretty sure in the flashback to the diner, when young Chase was essentially proposing to her, the actress was Hamzad's wife.

Bridges won an academy award for best actor and been nominated over 5 times and Lithgow has multiple emmy awards for acting. I would say they are both properly rated elite level actors. That said, I will most definitely check out this show.

Love this show. I’m dumb so can someone explain to me the whole storyline of Bridges meeting with his accountant and Zoe threatening divorce?
I’m confused. Those are fake characters right? So he runs a company under a fake name? I guess I can’t figure out why he would be such a big corporate guy and stay hidden

I started this show this weekend because of the reviews in this thread. I was sad to realize that there were only 4 episodes released so far. I am really enjoying it. Some damn good acting, and the storyline is good so far.

Zoe threatening divorce?
Her character has been a drag on the show thus far. I assume she's pissed and still hurting from her divorce so she's decided to pick this fight where she thinks she can leverage some hand she thinks she has over Chase for some additional money.
When she gave him two choices...either give in to her demands or she'll send the letter, he should have told her there was a third option. He could torture her, get the password for his email and delete it, and then murder her and liquify her body. WTF. It's bad enough she thinks she has hand, but why would any writer write this in after having shown what a ruthless badass the guy is? Not to mention she has now shown on MULTIPLE occasions she can't be trusted and is a clear liability to him and his daughter. After this threat she'd have to go immediately. She basically committed suicide there.
Am I missing something here? I had to hit pause on the show to hate that scene last night while finishing up that episode.

my wife kinda had to explain it to me as well.
he started a company with all the money he stole and basically ran it from afar as a silent partner. people knew who he was, but didn't really show his face. nobody had really met him in the company, but they all knew who he was. when he went into town and stay at the apartment for his wife's treatments, cemented the fact that there was a Mrs. at some point. he probably never told the company that his wife with the fake name died, and Zoe figured that out on that phone call. Some way or another she got into that information and was able to put extort him.
my only confusion to this, is other than protecting his daughter, is why he reacted so violently. it seems like it should only be about protecting his daughter and i don't get the impression he should GAF about the money at this point.
here is another question i have if somebody wants to take a shot. Lithgow mentioned to Bridge's daughter that she hasn't been by to since the "event." When she came over, she was talking about Lithgow's daughter in law and being together. Based on their language, am i to understand that Lithgow's son's wife (his DiL) was also in a bisexual relationship with her as well?
