And that official title is....

Scream

quote:

Yup. Taking a cue from Blumhouse’s “Halloween” (2018), the studio has opted to go with the, er, very same title of the first film in the series – despite being a sequel and continuation of that film.

Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett, “Scream” stars Melissa Barrera, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Marley Shelton, Sonia Ammar, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Neve Campbell.

SCREAM is in theaters January 14, 2022.

Never fear! We can always trust Hollywood to be on the bleeding edge of originality

I’ll save you the money then. It’s a remake that they’re going to pass off as a sequel.

Do they kill off all three originals in the first scene or throughout the movie?

Neve will play the role of Drew Barrymore in the opening scene.

If they were smart they would ignore parts 3 & 4. I’m all for suspension of disbelief but Jesus Christ how many times can the same group of characters be terrorized by a serial killer and survive to tell the tale?

This is actually a good idea

I mean...if that's what you're arguing then why not ignore Scream 2 as well? Let's bring Randy back, too, since he wasn't killed in the sequel. Needless to say I am not in favor. Scream is one of the few horror movie franchises that has decent continuity. Ignoring previous installments would mess that up.

I'm sick of studios trying to pretend they didn't already screw up. frick that noise. If you screw up a sequel just deal with it and make a better movie next time or *gasp* come up with a new, not already fricked, franchise.

Pretending bad sequels didn't happen is a bad trend and might lead to studios trying multiple do overs with every single franchise they have (technically already happened with Halloween since Halloween H20 did it first). It's bad enough that they are becoming too scared to come up with new IP. Letting them have constant do overs is even worse than constant reboots/remakes.

That would be a huge "frick you" to fans of the franchise.

This is imperialist bullshite. These roles should go to a more deserving, non-binary minority.
