really cool doc about sleep paralysis and the frickING INSANE hallucinations that often accompany this affliction

people really get into detail about the "shadow people" and it gets a bit crazy

i've heard about this affliction across many mediums, from paranormal angles o scientific ones. i'm so glad that i've never experienced any of this (even just the paralysis without the shadow people would be scary as all hell).

watch if you dare though, b/c one story involves a person developing SP after one of the principals of the film told her about it

Was going to watch it the other night but someone wouldnt watch it with me.

Ive experienced a few of them. Absolutely terrifying. My few have been the shadowy figure leaning over the bed in my face or standing alongside of my bed against the wall. The most frightening part about it is that you instinctively want to get up and react but you are literally glued to the bed like you are tied down.

Havent had one in a few years. Thank god.

Might watch it tonight now

It freaked me out because I know people who have complained about this condition...

It's real to them.

I just meant they really think there is an intruder standing over their bed...and they never feel like its a dream.

Yea I watched the trailer.

Speaking of depth, my figure has no depth to it. Its basically just a flat black figure shaped somewhat like a human(with lets say a slicker on, hood included).

Mine is the figure on the right with a little more shoulder definition

When leaning over me it looks like this minus the face and add the hood

When up against the wall its this guy minus the face and add the hood.

Fwiw the figure never moves for me. Its just there

They said a lot of people describe the shadow people similar to how people describe grey aliens and they talk about stuff that sounds like alien abduction, loss of time, etc. Makes me think there's some connection between the two phenomenons. I'd like to see more discussion of that but I guess its a different topic.

Thats exactly what it feels like.

There is an intruder in the room and you naturally try to react but you cannot move.

Think of how it would feel if you are being held down by straps across your whole body while simultaneously fearing for your life.

It doesnt feel like a dream at all. Its as real as can be to me.

I was disappointed to learn that the people being interviewed are actors. I was also annoyed at the insinuation towards the end that sleep paralysis had some supernatural element to it.

yes if you told me that the unconscious that creates the shadow people also creates that abudction scheme? i'd be like yeah

crazy theories are that the mindset that allow this is similar to DMT and it "opens" your mind to the collective energies, which means you interact with the beings of that realm, which are shadow people. you have similar SP schema with DMT and other powerful hallucinogenics

From google, the re-enactments are actors but I cant find anything on the people being interviewed. Those are actors also?

I like to believe the shadow people are humans from another dimension or alternate universe and people suffering from sleep paralysis have somehow tapped into it. Or maybe they're always there and we can only see them under certain conditions.

Even if its nothing supernatural, these stories have been around long enough that there must be some connection.

My friend said she could only see the outline of the face...it was all shadow...and it would just stand at the foot of the bed and she would cry out no, no...she could make noise but not move...but I never heard of red eyes...

There is some major axiexty aspect, she was going through a divorce and has not encountered it since after remarrying.

Yea I couldnt ever make out anything with the figure. It was just a shadow. I never made a noise except for taking a deep breath in like gasping for air. Ive never seen the red eyes or anything like that. Just a black shadow.

I cant attribute mine to anxiety.

Thats one of the weird things about it. I just had this almost life threatening event and I never got out of bed after it. You would think I would get out of bed and walk around, get a drink of water, or go splash some water on my face. No. Its literally scared to death and cant move to being able to sit up and collect my breath(and thoughts) and then every time my instinct is to get back under the covers and turn the other way.

Its somewhat like a childish event with the boogy monster.

Thats the only way I can rationale with why I have had these. When I was a kid, I would always try to imagine someone, like an intruder, walking into my room in the dark and scaring the shite out of me. At night, if I was walking around the house, I would literally force scare myself into thinking some horrible shite was about to happen to me in my house.

As I type this, I am realizing how messed up that is/was
