I think that The Middle is a pretty underrated sitcom and really enjoyed Patricia Heaton as the lead on the show.

I've been thinking about giving Everybody Loves Raymond a shot, but I think that Ray Romano is pretty annoying and Brad Garret is, at least, 10x worse.

Did anyone feel that way about either of those actors/characters...but were still somehow able to enjoy the show?

FWIW, I was able to do it with King Of Queens...even though I despise Patton Oswalt.

I despise Everybody Love’s Raymond and love The Middle.

Patricia Heaton does well in both roles, but Deborah is a bitch. And no one on Raymond is likable.

The Middle is just good.

Raymond had some funny episodes.

There was one where Robert told his girlfriend he was Ray. Hilarity ensued.

There was another one where Robert's girlfriend intentionally ate a fly.

This is good to know.Thanks. I'd tried watching an episode or two of ELR back when it was still airing original episodes, but didn't remember much about her character.

The Middle really was a great show. Like KOTH, Last Man On Earth, and a few others, it's a pretty fun series to rewatch from beginning to end every now and then.

Glad to know that it only took two replies to keep me from wasting any time on this show. It seemed to stay on the air for around a decade and pulled pretty good ratings, so I wasn't really sure if I was missing out.

Maybe her short lived series with Kelsey Grammar is worth watching. Her newest sitcom sounded like a dud.

Pretty sure it was the #1 sitcom for awhile.

People liked that type of humor for whatever reason. Nag wife, idiot husband who doesn't behave like an adult, overbearing parents whose son won't cut the cord..

I know that was the point, but it was insufferable to me.

And that idiot Brad Garret won an Emmy for standing around like a cigar store Indian

We liked them both but didn’t find anybody annoying. My wife watches the reruns all the time.

A lot if the story lines were based on real events from the show’s developer’s life. The story about Debra’s pms was hilarious and according to the developer’s wife was verbatim from an actual event.

One of those people that find Patton Oswalt incredibly obnoxious and untalented? Guilty as charged. He was tolerable on King Of Queens, though.

Raymond is one of those shows where out of every 10 episodes, 1 is really good and the other 9 are trash. It's those 10% good episodes that kept it afloat so long

I love ELR and watch the reruns all the time...they get better with age. Doris Roberts, Peter Boyle, Brad Garrett and Patricia Heaton are fabulous. Amy's parents were funny too. It's far better than any sitcom from the past few years. I also loved King of Queens and The Middle, although at times I found the characters on The Middle quite annoying--the daughter especially.

Everybody Loves Raymond is incredible. The casting and writing is genius. Watching it is very nostalgic for me.

Correct, sir.

I got talked into going to see Brad Garret's stand up "comedy" act one time and he has to be one of the least funny, least likable people I've ever been in the same room with. And I've been in the same room as OT posters.

I thought that Frankie, Mike, and Axel were the strength of the show, but I also liked a lot of the recurring characters, like Norm Macdonald, Jerry Van Dyke, Marsha Mason, and whoever played Brad and Cindy.

ELR is funny when Frank (the dad) is heavily involved In the episodes, just like when Arthur is heavily involved in King of Queens.
I don’t know if I would religiously watch ELR but would catch some TV land episodes when on.

Yeah, I think Peter Boyle was the best part of Everybody Loves Raymond. He was a pretty legit actor before the sitcom.
