It's a really cool, fun, easy to watch flick. Plus, Javier Bardem is great.

Sorry. I hated it. I went and saw it in theaters and the whole time I was wondering when it was going to get good.

The MTVB is the only place on the internet that hates Skyfall.

I was talking about The Master. I've seen Skyfall once in the theater, once streaming and once on Blu-Ray I really enjoyed it.

Some people will dislike something just because everyone else likes it. Or some people will like something because they think it makes them edgy or cool. I see this plenty on this site.

I completely disagree with this.

Out of all the Movie/Entertainment boards I have seen, this one is generally very good at constructive discussion and honest opinions. We have a cadre of posters who have a wide range of opinions, yes, but no sheeple.

There not very many people around here who hate to hate, or who like just to like. It's a good community, which is why the Skyfall backlash is odd.

I see it mostly on the music board, and to a smaller extent, this board. This thread and any thread about the Avengers, Batman, or any blockbuster type movie that is generally well liked proves my point. I'm not saying it's a ton of people doing it, but it's noticeable amount.

I think there are legit reasons to dislike any movie, and people generally do a good job of pointing that out (thin characters in Avengers, some of us might not agree, but we usually like comic books), Terrible Arcs in TDKR.

Most of the time these are justified and discussed. With Skyfall, other than the relation to TDK, they haven't been discussed really.

well with Skyfall i didnt hate it, i was just let down.

and the reason i was let down is because all the hype i was reading for it. i was building it up to be one of the best movies of the year.. which it was not.

just thought it was meh

I realize there are reasons to dislike any movie. But sometimes I think those reasons are blown out of proportion because a movie is popular. I also realize not everyone has to like a movie just because I do but I feel some posters nitpick and just try to find reasons to hate movies. I especially find that with the big blockbuster types. People try to critique something like the avengers like citizen Kane IMO you don't do that. Take the movie for what it is, a big fun movie, not a life changing experience.

I would say I agree with this, except that, to me, it is natural to use hyperbole in expressing my disgust (see?) for a movie. Take the Master, for instance, which is not only the subject of this thread, but another one. I would describe it as a vacuous waste of time and energy that made me want to blow my goddamn brains out at how terrible it was. Weebie will throw a tomato at me (or strawberry, or whatever the hell it is).

I've never seen it so I can't judge. I know hyperbole is used here. I often use it, but I think you can usually tell the difference between
hyperbole and what I described earlier.

Spot on, but...

I view this as part of the challenge of interacting with any community. Getting people on the same page in terms of definitions and context (see my Tom Hanks rants. Lost rants. In fact, any of my rants all ACTUALLY all about getting people in the same structural space of the overall "Movie" discussion).

Agreed, but people can have tendencies, fight through those tendencies.

People mistake my contention as just not liking something, when really, it's not, it's fighting through tendencies to keep people on the same page.
