I just saw Ronin again - its always been one of my favorite action movies. Now, to the MacGuffin . . . I know it is just a plot device to see the drama in all the moving pieces, but what do you guys think is actually in the case?

An extremist Irish party wants it. The Russians want it - enough for the mobster to let his fine young skater gf die. It is worth enough to kill for, but not enough to easily just pay for (for you know the Russkies had the money). Also, it's fairly light and gets tossed around quite a bit, so a weapon of some type, or something breakable/fragile, or some type of biological weapon is out of the question.

Any ideas?

It's the rabbits foot from M:I 3. It's the briefcase contents from Pulp Fiction

I always figured it could be either plates to make counterfeit bills or locations of some long forgotten weapons caches.

The only people interested were Seamus and the Russian oligarch so I can't imagine that it was nukes or biological agents because then the American and Russian governments would be actively bidding for the item or deploying all of their resources to get it so it had to be something important to Seamus and the Russian dude but relatively pissant in the big picture.

Can’t top answers on the MacGuffin - but can share where that cool, signature sound in the score (that we’ve all heard umpteen times since) came from.

It’s a Waterphone

That's pretty neat - an aspiring percussionist should add that to his repertoire.

Check out the marble one . . .
