I watched Episode 1, but was too tired to start Episode 2. That might be a bad sign.
It wasn't a total disaster like I had anticipated, but it doesn't feel like Lord of the Rings. I guess that's ok because it takes place thousands of years in the past.

Honestly Galadriel is not all that central of a figure in the Second Age
Stop trying to include all of the second age. That’s not what this show is about.

Eh Nedd, Daeny, Tyrion, Arya, Theon, The Hound, Jamie Lannister, Cersei, Joffrey, and John Snow
There was no main focus, more of an ensemble of interconnected stories.

I mean If you want to say they were all focused similarly then there is no main focus in this show either

This is the criticism that I don't Understand. What does that mean?

I also only watched the first episode. The episode works so hard to mimic Peter Jackson's visual style and tone that I don't understand how anyone could feel this way.

Again, waiting until the season concludes to learn if this is a waste of time.
Like I said previously, half of this board will love this show no matter what. They are committed to pwning the anti-wokes, and will rave about it even if it is shite.
The other half is convinced everything is woke, and will never admit if they like it or not. . .even if it is amazing.
I am waiting until it is over for the season, and can get reviews from people who aren't in any camp.
I say that to show that my comment was not on what the show is doing, but rather a comment on the necessity of a "main focus".

You want him to define a feeling?

Are you enjoying it now though? I did.
Honestly I have A feeling I know The show ends with Isildur not throwing the ring into Mount Doom. So I’m not too worried about the ending ruining the entire rest of the show (like GOT)

That’s exactly what I expected.
Lots of 1 star reviews from people who were never going to give it a chance.

That isn't true at all. Many people here desperately wanted to like WoT and everyone gave up on it pretty quick.
I stopped after 3 episodes.
Just in this thread, most people have voiced some concerns, but the overall sentiment seems to be mostly positive (not including the people have haven't even watched the show that are posting in this thread).

81% fresh rating isn’t that great either.

Are you enjoying it now though? I did.
I'm not watching it, until the season concludes.
Not worrying about spoilers, because I read everything. Actually wrote several papers on Tolkein and his works.
The only thing I keep harping on as troublesome are:
1) Why would Galadriel need or want armor or a sword? That's like giving an ICBM nuke, a gun turret
2) What idiot would let her be in the front of an army? And what would be the purpose?
3)If the rumors of Elrond being portrayed as gay are accurate
I don't really care about all the other stuff people are complaining about.

That is like comparing Rick and Morty fandom to Trekkies.

TLJ and chick Ghostbusters comes to mind

Both high fantasy series with very loyal fans.
The main point though, was the "anti-woke" vs "woke" sentiment. The "anti-woke" here do seem to admit when I show sucks.
HOTD, WOT, The Witcher, LOTR have all had the same arguments prior to the shows being released.
Currently HOTD seems to be good. The Witcher is well received. WOT was trashed almost immediately.
We shall see about LOTR.

When does she nuke anything in the books?
Gandalf is the second/then most powerful Wizard on earth and the still swings a sword. He doesn’t go around blasting fireballs.
Sauron is one of the most powerful beings in the world and he still has armor and swings a big fricking mace around. It doesn’t seem insane that Galadriel in her younger days may have less magic (which the literature has very few if any examples Of combat applications) and more sword.

He’s not. That’s one weird review but he’s not being depicted as gay. Just elven.

LoTR fans are passionate to a fault.
WoT won me over, warts and all, until the last episode

If I had to compare fandoms, I'd probably compare LOTR fans to Star Wars fans. Seems to be the same level of "passionate to a fault" if that makes sense.
WoT didn't do much for me. Was it entertaining at times? Sure. But it felt flawed from a production standpoint at the very least.
