Just came out on Netflix. Christ this movie is BAD. It feels like someone straight out of high school put this thing together. I was reeled in by the star power, but I honestly couldn’t finish watching it. Dreyfuss is fine, but Chevy is terrible. Guess there’s a reason he never did anything serious and stuck to comedy. Anyone else catch this one?

His time does indeed seem to have passed.

I saw it pop up on my Netflix suggestions and was on the fence about it because I my above statement. I might watch it at some point in the future if someone else suggests it, but until then I'll pass.

Chevy Chase used to be fricking hilarious too, shame.

Dreyfuss has been pretty solid in most of what he's done. My 2 favorite comedies with him are "Let It Ride" and "The Crew". Both had good supporting casts and were funny.

From what I understand, Chevy Chase can be difficult to work with and it seems the older he's gotten, the worse he's become. Kind of the whole "Don't you know who I am" syndrome.

He was getting in fights with cast members since his SNL days. When he came back to guest host, him and Bill Murray got in a fist fight. They're friends now, but Chevy has a long history of being a royal pain in the arse to work with. When one feud ends there's another one with someone else.

I still enjoy his movies, but hes not someone I'd want to work with if I were in the business.

It filmed in New Orleans. I was on set a few times doing a few odds and ends. You could tell everyone knew they were making a turd.

Movie was shot in NOLA. Had a friend that worked on set. He said Chevy was a huge jerk and they had to use cue cards for him because he couldn't remember his lines. Said Dreyfuss was a great guy though.

Couldn't remember his lines or didnt care to memorize them?

I remember the story of Marlon Brando refusing to memorize his lines for Superman and them having to use cue cards

Chevy being an a-hole? This is my shocked face.

He’s banned from hosting SNL over it and he had a tumultuous relationship with Dan Harmon while making Community.

Brando did that in basically everything he did after he really became a huge star and he had real sway. He actually had a very Chevy Chase like reputation going into the Godfather.

The studio literary made Marlon fricking Brando do a screen test and made Coppola almost put up a $1 million bond if he was cast, because he was known to be such a headache on set.

Of course, the rest is history, Brando gets his second wind, but he truly didn't give a shite after his big heydey of On The Waterfront, Streetcar, etc.

It was actually so easy for him, he juts got too spoiled and lazy.

All those stories from the Godfather say there used to be lines taped and laying in all kinds of places on set, just off camera, for him to read. Hell, they even taped lines to Caan's chest sometimes.

It also shows what kind of absolute unbelievable actor he was. You'd think an actor would have to know tbe line to get any kind of dramatic timing down, because he knew where the scene was going. But nope, it seems Brando was so good, he just nonchalantly read the line and acted as good as he did all at once.

Brando would do it to get a natural performance out of the lines instead of being wooden.

Chevy was probably being lazy.

Make no mistake, Brando was being lazy about it too. But, like the poster above said, that's a real testament to his acting ability to be able to perform that well just reading from cues.
