Well there you have it. TLJ was actually both funny and succinct.

He’s right

I actually don’t mind this take - it was done really well in the EU and it’s clear Abrams was going this route in TFA and Rian Johnson started to as well - hence why the throne room scene was ALMOST epic.

You could sense the direction change that was flowing from the plot.

And then...RJ just shite on it and now we are back to good versus evil where the good guys are a rag tag group of underdogs against an evil empire...

...for no explainable reason

I'm honestly not trolling, there's stuff I didn't like, changing how the ships fly and going from WW2 naval engagements in space to the Expanse realistic type thrusts to flying like a plane again. Arcing the plasma bolts was odd. But it's not a franchise killer for me.

And yeah the narrative has easy asspulls now. It did before, the Force was always broken for Jedi and Sith.

I realize calling 2 1/2 hour movie succinct is more than a bit of a misnomer. But there was the main plot of the chase along with the casino and the island.

The casino wasn't really that long.

They got there, jailed, escaped and were back on the bronco chase story at a good clip.

But I went in expecting people shitting on the rebel flag and Venus bladed lightsabers from all the SJW screeching here. I came out with somewhere around RotJ and a middle of the road star wars film. And maybe thats the bigger sin of this movie is it had more conclusions than a middle movie of a trilogy should.

Empire wrote out Han in case Ford said no to a third and took away Luke's hand and lightsaber.

Attack of the Clones ended with a full scale war breaking out and Anakin losing his arm, FORCED.COM Padme.

TLJ ended with starting a new order of Jedi without the baggage, a new empire, killing off a lot of new guys. Killing Ackbar was a wtf. And Luke joining the force.

You need to start an AMA thread about your daily thought processes. I’m genuinely curious as to how you approach problems using critical thinking in your everyday life.

The scale of the First Order is an issue. But handwaved away by Imperials escaping with the Treasury, snoke having Tommy wiseau money, or a combination.

Well yea.

How did the republic go from “resisting” an insurgent First Order and winning a huge battle by blowing up their main weapon to being “rebels” under the feet of the new galactic First Order in LITERALLY 15 seconds of story time?

How long did Luke hold that FREAKING lightsaber?

I mean I get along rather well, I'm more just amazed at how this movie caused the M/TV board to shutdown for a week of sending shirts and screaming at the sky curses at Rian Johnson. It wasn't the frick up of the prequels and will probably get about as many Oscar nods as Return.

The issue is this movie intentionally blending entertainment and politics.

I KNEW we’d be getting a liberal paradise movie going in so, honestly, that didn’t bother me at all. I mean, come on, a frickin KENNEDY is running the show here. Anyone expecting anything otherwise was fooling themself.

See my posts. My complaints were solely about the writing, plot, dialog, characterizations IN the movie, but they are constantly dismissed out of hand because I’M THE ONE BEING ACCUSED OF BEING POLITICAL for not liking it (wtf - it’s the same frustration people have when they attacked Obama’s policies and were met with accusations of being a racist)

That’s why people are upset - it’s merged politics with escapism and people are muddling their way through it.

Did the New Republic have that much of a fleet to bring to bear? The capital got wiped out. Along with a lot of the home fleet they mustered a strike force of vets to buy time and it wasn't enough of either. If they returned to their home planets they are probably radio silence as what happened in TLJ. " Hey we hear you, sorry we don't want to get it crammed in!"

The dreadnoughts also explain why Snoke wasn't too pissed about losing Starkiller. It served it's purpose and him having more than a few of the ships ensured superiority.

That’s kind of the point.

We DON’T KNOW. All we are presented with are questions. There is no attempt at all to explain anything of relevance. It just IS.

Why is the first order literally SUDDENLY in power? It just is.

Why is Rey so strong in the force? She just is.

Why is the Force so easy to master for anyone? It just is.

Who is snoke? Where did he come from? What are his motivations? He just is.

Why did Luke make a map to himself only to turn everyone away? He just did.

On and on and on and on.

Believe it or not, there are a LARGE majority of people who watch movies, read books, to be immersed in the story that will then, in turn, be taken OUT of the story by questions not being answered in the story.

TLJ is one big unanswered question leaving us with no desire for the answer in the next movie.

The only thing explained in this movie was “emotions”.

Hand holding and emotional explanations dominated this movie.

Holdo can sacrifice herself though. No one gives a shite about her. She was unloved on and off the screen.

The one positive takeaway from the movie is that Poe is leading now, as undeserving and stupid his promotion is.

All of the women leaders are incompetent buffoons.

That’s a feminist message for you.

What politics happened here?

Holdo's talk down of fly boys and rogues that happens in any war movie?

A second entry of the girl force user now Jedi?

A misidentification of Trumpism in the First Order?

Again I was expecting Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamil to tell us all about the thousand years of Darkness Trump and Men would bring.

Instead I got an admiral who sacrificed herself last minute with a banzai hyperspace charge. Which was my biggest issue of the movie. But the fuel shortage explains that. Not enough for the frigates by the time evacuating was finished to consider.

Sure it explained THAT

But screwed up everything else in SW

There’s pattern here. Every plot point and explanation destroyed everything before it and after it.

Star Wars was sacrificed on the Altar of The Last Jedi
