I'm surprised by this thread, because I assumed most people thought Jim Carrey was a complete loser who was basically irrelevant at this point.

I was surprised for the exact opposite reasons, I didn't realize people hated Jim Carrey these days

Four pages and not a single pic of Margot Robbie. This thread did not deliver.

He's become a lot more polarizing the last 10 years or so. If you had a time machine and went back to the late 90's and asked a bunch of people their thoughts on Jim Carrey, you'd likely get a lot of the same reactions and praise for his comedic chops.

Fast forward to today, his personal life, political antics are a lot more known to the public and people see the other side of him. I'm honestly not sure what to think of the guy these days. I enjoyed his interview on David Spade's show and he seemed like a normal guy for once.

I'm not sure what he meant on this context, other than seemingly impersonating James Brown, but "hop on the good foot and do the bad thing" is some sort of "Austin Powers" slang for sex.

It's difficult to keep up with the current list.

Wow people are reading a lot into this interaction.

Nothing about her body language seemed scared or uptight to me. Her legs were crossed TOWARDS Carrey and she was leaning on the couch in his direction. These are not the body language actions of a person uncomfortable with the person they're sitting next to. She laughed at a lot of what he said. She did not seem cold or put off at all.

His joke was, in fact, pretty sexist. I won't defend it, but I think his intent was humor, not an attack. In today's climate it was in was a bad call, though.

This situation is much ado about nothing. I'd like to hear how Margot feels about the whole thing.

If you went in blind and watched his segment from the beginning, like my wife and I did, it was obvious that Robbie had a problem with Carrey. The entire time he was talking she had this look on her face like she wasn't happy to be there with him. Before he turned his attention to her, my wife and I asked each other why she was so damn unhappy with him. Then he turned to her and did his joke.

His brand of crazy would make him a TD hero but he hates Trump.

Why was Robbie creeped out by Carrey in the first place?

Because he's a weird creepy dude who allegedly drove his girlfriend to suicide?

He might be creepy af, but no one drives anyone to suicide, that’s a personal choice. Except for Epstein.

What? The courts threw out the case against him (brought to you by none other than Michael Avenatti)

I'm confused by the thought process of people who think this was sexist. Saying someone is a movie star because of their looks obviously isn't sexist if you are talking about a guy. Why would that be different if you are talking about a female movie star?

If you say someone is inferior because of their sex that would be different but there are clearly attractive men and women who can act and others who choose roles that are possible because of their looks.

It's technically sexist either way, depending on who is telling the joke.

It's an old joke. It's been told against men and women. There's now a larger section of society that hates any humor that is demeaning to an individual in even the slightest way. It's why they pick apart films and television that are older than five years so that they can expose them for being "problematic."

Five or ten years ago, no one would bat an eye at that joke.

BTW, I wish we had Graham Norton on in the states.
It comes on BBC America, if you have that. It's far better than any other talk show and is good for multiple LOL moments in each show. Seems like the guests are much more honest than on American talk shows. The interview with Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall a few years ago was a hoot.
