Just finished it and it’s a very good movie but I feel like it would have been great if it was made ten years ago. It’s a geriatric show as it is now. Everybody looks 20 years older than they’re supposed to be. Just kinda makes it feel a little forced at times.

I thought it kind of sucked. They could have used a few of those old fricks in certain roles but none of them were believable as portrayed

I liked it but it definitely lacked the punch I expected. Think about how much more epic that Hoffa yelling at his people scene would have been with a 15 years younger Pacino

Pesci stole the show. Pacino was miscast imo they should’ve just gotten Jack Nicholson to come back and play Hoffa dude looks just like him. Should've had Di Nero narrate and play the old man at the end and beginning of the movie and had a younger actor play the meat of the role.

But it's a last hurrah type movie. This was to show off Pacino, Pesci, De Niro one last time.

For some reason though Pacino's screaming and overacting just doesn't really do it for me.

I thought the movie was amazing. Scorsese deserves whatever Best Pic and Director honors that come his way. It was long but engaging. At no point was I ready for it to end.

I don't feel like the actors really carried the movie though. I was a little disappointed to see Pacino being Pacino again instead of being Hoffa. Deniro was fine, but I felt like he could've been replaced with several others and the movie would've lost anything.

Pesci was great. I found myself disliking his character as the movie went on though. He basically unilaterally ordered that one mob guys death just for being an a-hole.

I'm curious as to how they got all this info on how this shite really went down. Is there some sort of memoir out there? Did the FBI files just get that detailed?

I'd love an accompanying podcast similar to Chernobyl.

As did I. I kept pausing it just to look up some of the actual people on Wikipedia. Really enjoyed Pesci, and Pacino in it. Only scene that took me out was the shop scene where Deniro's character stomped on the dudes hand.

The movies is based off of the book, I heard You Paint Houses by Charles Brandt. In this book, it talks about Frank Sheeran's dealing with the Bufalino Crime family and his supposed admittance to killing Hoffa.

I agree. Very disappointed in the movie. They are trying to act like they’re 30 when in reality they are 70+. Completely unbelievable. Terrible honestly. It would have been a good mini-series with correctly aged actors. They tried to cram way too much shite in.

It's about death, y'all. It's about a lifetime of regrets and how you can't change those decisions and how eventually time erases all of us, even Jimmy Hoffa. We are insignificant specks on the timeline, and we will go back to nothingness.

You need old people to play that reality. We aren't seeing the story of a life... we are watching the memories of lonely man dying alone and forgotten, still loyal to people who no longer exist.

That scene deserves a Golden Raspberry. It was so bad.

Got halfway through last night. I think they missed an opportunity by not getting younger actors to play in the flashbacks. Seeing some of these old dudes getting their babies Christened is a bit silly.

I haven’t watched it, but it seems no Netflix made movie ever lives up to the hype. I’ve yet to see a Netflix movie that didn’t fizzle out at some point.

I mean, it has 5 Golden Globe nominations for director, actors, screenplay, and best picture.

I actually lol’d. DeNiro trying to kick that dude on the ground was comedy gold.

Watching Deniro "beat up" that baker was just sad.

If Scorcesse was an NFL QB and threw a pass as bad as that scene we would all be asking if he should retire

The opening was a long shot through the nursing home, ending on Deniro’s face as he sat in a chair. Then we hear his voice in a voiceover start telling the story. After a few sentences, he actually starts speaking/moving his mouth.

What is the purpose of that? It was odd. For a second, I thought the picture had frozen or something.

I’m assuming it’s meant to show that the narration is coming from the perspective of the 80 year old version of himself or something along those lines

Good movie. Obviously not Scorsese’s best. He’s just pulling out the hot rods for one last loop around the block to show them off, and Netflix is paying them all big bucks to do it.
