..to write a new script/book to be made into a movie.

..and speaking of HP, I saw a window sticker on some chick's car this AM that said: "I'd get sleazey for Ron Weasley.

ETA: Never mind, it looks like it's a tangential story line based off of a book (Fantastic Beasts) from the series.

Didn't Rowling say that she would never write another book with the Harry Potter character again? Seems like she wanted to move on from that particular character at least.

Set 12 years after the end of Deathly Hallows Part II, Harry Potter and the Ongoing Development of Arthritis will follow Harry as he begins to notice he can't get up from chairs as easy as he used to. It is also rumored that his son, Albus Potter, will reveal that he is leaving his wife and young children because he is gay. Other rumors include Ron Weasley filing suit with the Ministry of Magic against Hogwarts School for its controversial "ginger" ban, possibly due to the fact that gingers are unable to make horcuxes, and are deemed "useless."

So it has no Harry Potter, per se. Only takes place in the same world and much earlier.

Could be an interesting movie

They did have a lot of lore that could be expanded upon

Yeah. Harry Potter wasn't so much a great character as it was a great universe.

I wouldn't mind if Rowling wrote more about the Wizarding World, but I'd keep Harry, Ron, and Hermione completely out of it. Maybe go to the Wizarding World in America and have a squib as an antagonist who breaks the Statute of Secrecy and incites a war between Muggles and Wizards.

American Wizard School would look like a cross between Porkys, Animal House, and Revenge of the Nerds. You need those British accents for the restraint of power to be believable.

Agreed...similar to how GRRM has the D&E books. Same universe, but the timeline is earlier & focuses on other characters.

Harry, Hermione, & Ron storylines are complete. Would feel cheap/money grab if she did another book with them as the main focus.

Excellent way to look at it.

I knew she would eventually come back to milk that cow but didn't think it would be this quick.

Have there be 4 Wizarding Schools instead of 1 and have rivalries similar to the 4 Hogwarts houses. One in the North would be like in Maine and have a more Harvard on steroids feel to it. One in the South that is like a gigantic plantation surrounded by a swamp in Louisiana (an obvious place for a wizarding school with a large focus on voodoo). One in the Northwest in the mountains that is like a giant lodge, and then one in the Southwestern desert that is in a canyon that is designed with Pueblo houses.

If I were doing it, I'd start our new characters at the same age where our last characters left off: when our characters turn 18. Send them to Auror training and then some shite breaks out. Make the characters come from different schools with pre-established rivalries and dislike each other at first. Then shite hits the fan as a Squib seeks to break the Statute of Secrecy and succeeds at it. This guy will use powerful magical artifacts to his advantage in order for him to outsmart the Wizards. War will then break out among the Muggles and the Wizards, which I think would be pretty equal, particularly because of how superior Muggle's communication is.

I'd probably make it a trilogy instead of 7 books and pretty much have the crap start from the beginning. I also think they should add a Muggle to the main roster of characters, since the only ones we got in the original series were the Dursleys, which weren't really great role models.

I'd have it still take place in the present more or less. Certainly have it occur after the events of Harry Potter, but move settings. We already know everything about the British Wizarding World that we need to know. If you had the plot take place in America, then Harry and gang are not necessary. I would have some cameos for sure, like Kingsley, Draco, or maybe even Lupin and Tonks' son.

I am a huge Harry Potter fan, and what you're proposing sounds bad TBH. Not saying I could do better, but I dk it just seems too cut and paste and not original. But shite I'm gonna read it either way

Sounds pretty bad....

Let stuff happen in the world of HP, but don't bring in any of the HP characters. I'm fine with referencing them in very very small roles so that we can gain an understanding of how the new people fit in though.
