Sorry. Thought it was season 4. Amazon tricked me. I was wondering why the trailer didn't resemble anything from the book.

Season 3 drops on Prime tomorrow. Season 4 doesn't have a release date as of yet.

I was really excited for like a half second though.

S4? Huh? You sure?

ETA: okay, I see now where someone clarified it’s the S3 drop tomorrow.

It's set in the future where we've colonized Mars and extract resources from the asteroid belt. The basic plot is the geopolitical conflict between Earth, Mars and "the Belt".

It's based on a series of books and is considered one of the better shows on TV right now. I honestly found the first season a bit slow because there was a lot of set up involved, but once the multiple plot lines really get rolling season 2 its a nice ride.

ETA: One of the cool regular features of it is that they're very faithful to the physics of space. Space is the setting but it's part of the story too because they really have to account for it.

quote:

The show features colorful characters, sharp dialogue, and complex political machinations, but what really sets it apart from other sci-fi TV is the realistic way that it handles gravity and orbital trajectories. Much of the credit for that goes to showrunner Naren Shankar, who holds a PhD in physics and engineering from Cornell.

“Most space battles are just re-hashes of World War II fighter battles in the Pacific,” Shankar says in Episode 240 of the Geek’s Guide to the Galaxy podcast. “And that’s fine, if they want to be that kind of a fantasy, but I find great beauty in the way the ships move in our show.”
