The season is currently sitting at 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, with 28 reviews in so far, with an average rating of almost 8.6/10. Here are just a few blurbs from the "Top Critics" who post reviews to that website:

quote:

"The sheer audaciousness of the script continues to thrill: how could anyone know what the Queen and Princess Anne talked about, seated on a picnic blanket in the middle of nowhere?" - Suzy Feay, Financial Times (5/5)

quote:

"Together, Thatcher and Diana give The Crown an energy and a sense of direction it lacked in the third season, and a feeling of verve the show has arguably never approached before." - Kathryn VanArendonk, New York Magazine/Vulture

quote:

"Much of series three felt like a warm up act, a prelude to bigger, better drama. With the arrival of some new blood in the form of Gillian Anderson's Thatcher and Emma Corrin's Princess Diana, round four provides just that." - Katie Rosseinsky, London Evening Standard (4/5)

quote:

"I remember in detail almost every event here that I found it so entertaining. Yes, there is a shaky start and the odd historical inaccuracy, but it is in my view Morgan's best series yet and, overall, five-star television." - Carol Midgley, Times (UK) (5/5)

quote:

"The stillness at the centre of this storm is Colman. She is quietly riveting as the plot wends its way to a predictable conclusion." - Ed Power, Independent (UK) (4/5)

quote:

"The Crown has successfully sold itself as one of TV's most serious dramas. The fourth season, in all its shameless glory, may be its most successful yet even as it puts that prestigious perception to bed." - Caroline Framke, Variety

quote:

"What makes Corrin a good Diana is that she too possesses an inherent charm and appeal. She remains sympathetic throughout, even in scenes with O'Connor when the two are shouting at one another as their marriage collapses." - Kelly Lawler, USA Today (3.5/4)

quote:

"All of this is familiar. Very painfully, infuriatingly familiar. But as "The Crown" in this season shows, with a steel spine and ice in its veins, the Monarchy was built to withstand whatever onslaught comes its way." - Ann Donahue, indieWire (A)

quote:

"O'Connor is uncannily skilled at portraying the prince's chimeric moods - the arrogance and entitlement, the hangdog malaise, the insecurity and yearning." - Kristen Baldwin, Entertainment Weekly (A-)

I'm excited about it. Especially with what they're likely going to cover.

So excited for this season to drop. I agree that season 3 wasn't the best.

Looking forward to see how Diana tries to impress Her Majesty, The Queen as I can't imagine anything more nerve wracking for a woman than when your boyfriend's mother is Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain. I hope it's like the gender reverse of the situation with Phillip and King George VI where they were discussing Princess Elizabeth and the King told Phillip that the titles and all the pomp is not the job, Elizabeth is the job. The Queen could likely say something similar about her son.

I'm also looking forward to see what the Netflix take is on relationship between PM Thatcher and Her Majesty The Queen.

I didn't start watching until a few months ago and then I binged the first 3 seasons, so forgive the dumb question. Does Netflix drop all of the episodes at once or do they just release one a week?

They typically do it all at once.

She should watch what she wants. I never felt the need to watch stuff with my hubby. I would have rarely watched what I wanted.
