I dont remember it if I did. I think the show is good enough that a voice impression wasn't really necessary. I think I am at s4 e7 and the character has come and gone with little consequence.

Is Gillian Anderson this unrecognizable these days?

This was probably the weakest season. I guess I was hoping for more Margaret Thatcher. They basically glossed over her entire tenure.

I mean...the show is called The Crown. It follows Queen Elizabeth II and her family.

They really made that character a bafoon. She showed up. Girl power. Didn't fit in at camp. Child was a dope got lost in car race. Drove economy down the shitter. Cried with queen. And then bye bye Maggie.

I feel this season is much better than season 3. Remember that this is about The Queen. This is about the monarchy and how The Queen drives it through history and is affected by history. Even Churchill didn't have tons of importance in this show. Even her children's roles are modeled in how they impact The Queen and the monarchy. Thatcher is in of the 10 episodes. That's not glossed over. It's just about The Queen, not the Prime Minister.

I think you should consult google. Not sure about the crying, but the other things are actually history. I don't think those that actually saw Thatcher thru the news during her time as PM would agree with you. You've posted about her a good bit and it's obvious you really don't know much about the lady. And it's buffoon.

Yeah basically everything they put in the show about her was fiction. She didn't get Britain into the Falklands War because her kid was lost. Her economic policies were necessary. I couldn't care less about the whole Balmoral test thing. Seems silly.
The whole South Africa thing made her look better than the queen, but I doubt the showrunners even realized it. South Africa is clearly worse off now than it was then. She was right not to jump on the bandwagon. The rest of the world was wrong.

I didn't get that impression at all. The Balmoral portion is completely true. Her child was lost. She steered Britain to a stronger place in the world.

Then you should go back and rewatch that episode.

I'm sure she was a much more complex person. The focus of the show on her was limited, but the show is about the royals so.I just posted I didn't like the way the character talked but thats a personal preference thing. She would have made an excellent mumble rapper. Wasn't trying to trigger anybody, still like da show.
re: The Crown Season 4 ThreadPosted by imjustafatkid on 11/18/20 at 1:07 pm to Rou Leed
I'm not triggered. They just usually do a better job with the more public aspects. They failed with Thatcher.

Sorry imjustafatkid. I don't want anyone to be triggered or do any sky screaming. I just replied to the last post in the thread. Im not a message board English history expert. I am just a basic Netflix watcher of the program. Im not a big fan of ham fisted accents in shows.

While I think they should just go ahead and hand out the Emmy for supporting actress to Gillian Anderson, I also think HBC killed it as Margaret this year. The casting is just stellar.
After this season I think you have more empathy for Margaret and Anne as they seem like they actually have feelings and a semblance of humanity, and Good God Charles and Camilla look awful.

Agreed. I assure you, that I'm not triggered.

I agree with all of this. I think this show isn't doing Charles any favors. People in England were starting to soften to him a bit, and this is just going to remind them of why they hate him.

Edward is probably the least messed up out of the four (and the only one whose marriage hasn't collapsed).
While Anne had her marriage issue with Mark Phillips, she's the most well-adjusted of the bunch (looking back from now to then). She's a fairly accomplished woman, has been in a pretty stable second marriage since the early 90s, and is well respected.
It's a shame she's as far down the line as she is for the Crown. She's probably better fit then any of her brothers to wear it at this point.
