If the Warrens' case files were as varied as the "trophy room" would imply, you'd think they could find another story that wasn't so goddamned formulaic.

I was actually shocked that they went with this particular story over the numerous ones the Warrens actually did investigate. Why not go with the Amityville story? They actually did investigate that one. Maybe they didn't because Ronnie Defeo has come forward saying none of the paranormal stuff he originally stated happened and the Lutz's account was debunked by the conversation between them and their lawyer.

No way this is as good as the first...........

It's not but it was still pretty good. There were some legit scares. I think the first one was a 10/10, I'll give this one a 7.5/10

Okay, so I really don't care about the Warrens or their history. I went into the movie having never seen the Conjuring tonight, and I liked it. The thing I liked about it was that I cared about the characters in it. That's good writing and good acting. Surprised me for a horror movie.

As for its faithfulness to true events, it really doesn't matter to me. I wasn't familiar with the case before, so it doesn't affect me.

I'm not telling people not to see it and enjoy it. I'm going to see it myself Saturday. My complaint is how they market it as "a true story" when it's not.

It's a movie. Enjoy it for what it is.

Just got back, wasn't as good as the first one. Felt a little rushed at the end, but still very good. Very intense for the most part. Acting and special effects were on point. Solid 7/10.

Had me on edge for most of the movie. I never really jump and this one surprises me a couple times

James Wan did a wonderful job of directing. His camera work was top notch. The tent scene with the fire truck was very well done.

Mrs. Vox and I have clearly seen too many horror movies in the last 10 years to have much of anything move the needle, these days. I should preface the following by saying that my wife has historically been the horror fan. I rarely watched them before- mainly because before this relationship, my super power was avoiding movies that suck.

I thought Insidious 3 was good, as was the first. Conjuring 1 was not too bad. Annabelle was okay, too. I fell asleep during The Shining. We left It Follows shaking our heads, and agree that The Witch was incomprehensible and a total waste of time.

The Strangers is still the standard that all horror movies are held to, for us. That one gets in your head. No demons, no supernatural, booga-booga crap. Just three people who are intensely fricked in the head and decide to terrorize a couple. Because they were home.

I don't understand how they've made a movie on the enfield poltergeist. Most of the "occurences" with the girls was proven to be a hoax by the two of them.

Hint: It's all bullshite.

According to most things I've read, the Warrens did investigate this one.

I believe they briefly looked into it, but were not the main investigators.

Personally, I think it was very obvious to them when they went that the children were the culprits and decided there was nothing to be made off of the story. I don't think they ever directly said that they thought the children were doing it

There was an investigator that once said "I have never investigated a home that was actually haunted. The Warrens have never investigated a home that wasn't haunted."

THANK YOU. While It follows was original it is overrated as shite on this board, 0 scare factor. The witch was one of the most boring movies I've sat through in a long time and I'm a fan of slow burners

can overlook some things, but when you spent a few hours on the case and become the focal point of the movie, that's where I draw the line.

are you serious?

it's a story based on real events

key words: STORY, BASED...it means that it's bullshite and that the story is based on the bullshite parts of otherwise real events

i took a shite this morning. based on the true story or on real events...fox mulder is taking a shite when a nuclear bomb is detonated by terrorist ghosts and he springs into action with his pocket size bazooka

they probably wanted to make a documentary but see the thing is, there's no such thing as ghosts...they could've done a faithful recreation of real events, but it wouldn't have any ghosts, it would be the story of someone telling their story

We could hang, cfish. You're all right in my book, even if all I know of you is that we agree on those two films.

I hate to break the news, but ghosts, hauntings and possessions aren't real. Movies about same can be really entertaining, but historical inaccuracies aren't that important.

Saw it today. Not only did I think it was a great horror movie..I thought it was just a great movie.
